Taxpayer Concerned With County Fleet Expenses Community Pulls Together— Angleseys draw closer to reaching goal I have recently noticed members of the Weber County Sheriff's Department driving new pick-up trucks with more chrome on them than customized cars I wonder if the traffic ticket rate is so high it allows for such fancy adornments, or is the cou sheriff’s department budget so high it n afford nicer trucks than most can in their sia fleets? If the money from tickets written is pureee these trucks with the number of tickeing given out in the Ogden Valley see we wonder when they will be driving Cadillac SRXs. It is an insult to Weber County taxpayers to see this kind of outrageous spending for ultra-fancy 4x4 trucks. It may be time for a new sheriff. Kenny Wright’s Grizzly Graphics on 14th and Wall Street in Ogden was the setting Saturday, April 23 for the benefit sale and auction to help our neighbor Jim Anglesey. Jim is awaiting a bone marrow transplant and without the hefty amount of $100,000.00 the transplant will not take place. However, through the extraordinary and superhuman efforts of the Valley folks and other friends, a generous contribution was added to the Circle of Friends charitable fund that has been set up to collect funds for Jim’s procedure Many wonderful people put in a great effort through the month to make this event successful, and many tears of happiness have been shed in gratitude as Jim is getting closer to his goal. special thanks to Valley Elementary School; teachers Michelle Evens and Rose Hedges spearheaded a drive to collect the many lovely items donated for the auction and a heavy envelope of cash was handed to the Angleseys. ‘The enthusiasm on the faces of the oaded the trailer with the donations was a sight to behold and lifted the spirits of all making us feel that this goal could actually be reached. All the volunteer committees worked extremely hard to make sure that all was in order for the sale and auction. The weather was cooperative, Pepsi Cola was generous and the auctioneer Ron Snorgrass was a delight to watch, and everyone who attended was vei willing to part with that which will ultimately determine if Jim gets his transplant. He has had all the medical preliminaries performed, the paper work is completed, and all the formalities are finished. What is needed now is money, what Jim doesn’t have is time. Soon Jim will be out of remission and with out the transplant he will not be with us for long. The good news is, the money in the fund is now over half way to the mark. There have been donations from as far away as Africa, all around the U.S., and from many of his friends in the music field. Part of the success of Saturday’s event was the beautiful professional music provided by friends of the Angleseys. Jim’s wife Theresa Ellis and Frosty McWilliams performed early in the day. Theresa hoped she could rest uj bit for her four hour performance scheduled for later in the evening; however, Theresa is so accomplished on her fiddle that she answered quests for music all day. Cori Connors from Farmington played her guitar and sang as did Paul Boruff. Blue Sage and the Iverson family also did a memorable performance. It made the day very festive and enjoyable for all The ee ee Theresa, and their two son: ness and help ihiey have received.
