UII In-i- 1 - Student Writers: Brandi Lewis and Jessica Creek The South Summit High School traveled to Cedar City to play in the 2001 State Volleyball loumament. The tournament was held at Southern Utah University. They were excited to play, but their first game was not until Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Lodycats took first in their region and because of that they had a first round bye. Die Ladycats waited anxiously to see whom they would play in the second round. They would take on the winner of the Parowan Richfield game.. Richfield beat Parowan easily to move on to play the Ladycats at 7:30 Friday evening. The Ladycats were excited to play. They thought they had all that it I .adycuts would take to heat the number Region 13 team. The Ladycats started oil great with a score of 6-- Then, the Ladycats let down giving the game to Richfield In the second game. at Richfield got linings rolling first, but this lime it was the ladycats who came hack, heating Richfield The third games seemed to last forever. Neither team wanted to give it up, and they both knew that this was their last stuH at continuing on in the winner's bracket. The game rallied hack and forth until it finally ended with a score of 6 in favor of the Richfield Wildcats. The Ladycats were heart broken. They knew they had to pick themselves up for the Grand Red Devils on Saturday. Saturday came and at 11:00 the two-rank- 14-1- 6. 16-1- 14-1- G Ladycats took on Grand. The Ladycats were confident knowing that they could beat them. They had played the Devils four times during the season, and won three of the four games. They knew they could do it. They Ladycats were still devastated about the game the night before, and perhaps had too much confidence. The Devils overpowered the and it seemed as though the Devils wanted it more.
