Senior Citizens BY C1IEKI BEAL e There was a at the Senior Center today as the cooks scrambled to serve SO hungry people and did a mighty fine job in making the meal stretch. Extra tables had to be set up to compensate for the overflow but no one seemed to mind and were very helpful in making room for everyone. All those bodies caused the room to heat up so the doors and windows were thrown open to let in the cool breeze, which turned into a downpour of rain after a short while. We all felt grateful to receive the long awaited moisture and welcomed it with open arms and excited chatter. I felt like a new person in the group and didn't recognize many of the faces so I don't know who was a visitor and who was a regular. What a pleasure it was to have so many in attendance though. hustle-bustl- As you may know, our Center has had its share of problems lately and d feelings have been hurt with rumors running rampant. The only way we can heal as a group is for each person to refuse to point fingers and realize we will only move forward if we agree to forgive and forget. Remember, when we choose to point our finger, 3 fingers are pointing back at us! It might help to keep the big picture in mind, that being a smooth running Center, so perhaps we could overlook the trivial things for the sake of everyone. There isn't a single person in this area who shouldn't feel welcome and accepted when they attend any function at the Center and no one should be excluded. Our sincere gratitude goes to Glen and Mary Smith for all they have done to improve the Senior Center and make it a more appealing place to gather. They have done a beauti n. 783-555- SuBscriBe To Keeping Your Eye 5. on Ibe Ball The (Bee is Yerj Important! I It's nice to be able to get up in the morning, not only to get up but to get up and be able to rejoice for the moisture we are receiving. Since we didn't have a meeting set for the 4th. of July, we went via a Casino Caravan bus to the Fellowship Manor, an assisted living facility in Ogden on July 3 and some of us that aren't in the band got to go along. That was great for me. I got to see for myself just how the musical family is welcomed and enjoyed. Some of the folks from there hope to visit us right here at our Center in the future. Don and Jean Calderwood. who live in Ogden, met us there and took part on the program. When the entertainment was over, we were served punch and cookies and got an added surprise when who should appear but our friend, Eliria Warburton. Eliria's Aunt lives there and had called her to say that a group of Senior Citizen's from Coalville would be entertaining that day so Eliria hopped right on over. She was happy to see us and we were happy to see her, too. She didn't know that June Toole had had a stroke and sends greetings to her and Frank. She, her aunt and a friend went along with us to an Oriental cafeteria where we ate. This was a nice place. You could fill your plate with no trouble at all and you could even pick raw food and they would cook Clinic Park City Community Clinic a family planning The Park a major content for you. t and we warn to help krep is City Community take advantage of that because I already had all 1 wanted and more than I needed by the time I reached that point. We had a gixtd driver and he was so kind as to slop at a Smith's Food store where they had a bargain price of only 4 cents a pound for watermelons. We had just Finished eating. Right? Food should have been the farthcrest thing from our minds but you would be surprised at how many melons and corn on the cob came home with us. It's always nice to welcome guests and we were happy to have Pat Treens guest, Ruth Mahoney from Bakersfield, CA, with us. Ruth was with us on both Tuesday and Friday. Hope she'll come again when she visits Pat. We met as usual on Friday and the band held a practice session. They believe like the Boy Scouts. Always Be Prepared just in case they get an urgent request to entertain. What's more they have fun doing didn't it. We have lost two more good fellows. We send our sympathies to the families of Jim Burns and Scott McMichael. They have lived good lives, left fond memories and will be missed a lot. Blanche Wright lost her most favorite and only with Jims death. She was able to attend his services even though she is supposed to keep her bad foot elevated. That is a difficult thing for her to do.
