With Commissioner Richins example, I also believe that the greatest asset a commissioner has is not how much education he or she has. Not how many credentials one carries into the office. Not how much money or assets he or she possesses, and not how powerful he or she is in the community or county, A commissioner's greatest asset is his or her ability to listen to the people of the county. I also believe when one is elected to a commission seat, the commissioner must understand that he or she has been elected as a public servant. As a public servant I understand that the tax payer is the I - zens are discouraged that they give their public input on projects and get certain conditions in the approvals and then developers or contractors do as they please without regard for the requirements and rules. We should strive to notify the citizens of the actions proposed or taken. I support establishing an enforcement position to coordinate the enforcement of code issues. This position would pay for itself in a short period and would save the county money in the long run. I have also heard from residents that calls to the county are not returned and addressed. We must make sure calls are returned and a mechanism in place to log and follow up on every call. I would like to have county staffing levels addressed making sure we have the right number of employees, have the tools and equipment to do the jobs we expect than to do, and to strive for better customer service in all levels of county government.
