Visit the Great Kiva, perhaps the single largest Anasazi ruin, and hundreds of others at northern New Mexico’s Chaco Canyon National Monument. Chaco was built and inhabited between 400 A.D. and 1300 A.D. and represents the highest development of the Anasazi culture. This was the site of a thriving, well-organized society, with an intricate network of canals and roads. Excavations in the canyon began as early at the 1890s. The large underground kivas were places of prayer, ceremony and ritual. You too can commune with the spirits at Chaco. — submitted by Rob Green Erik’s Creativity in Dining Featuring: * Oaxaca ¢ * ¢ ¢ ¢ ¢ ¢ ¢ ¢ Escape to Ciudad de Oaxaca (pronounced Wahhak-a), tucked up in the Sierra Madre Mountains a days bus ride south of Mexico City.
