Show North Summit Senior Citizens by Louise Wallace We had an excellent ittenfrnce this week and dug! what we like. What's even greater is the fact that everyone seems to be getting into the spirit of Christmas. For some, like me, a bit slow in coming. We were treated with a gift package containing a nice juicy orange and candy from the Coalville Lion's Club. Those guys just never forget us. Then Mary Mair brought candy ice cream cones, Eleanor Morby brought a holiday mix and very good and Louise Wallace brought homemade divinity. That was on Wednesday On Friday, Wills Dearden brought home made candy so you might say we got an early start on consuming the sweets. No, we didn't finish it off but will next week. We want to thank Shirley Phelps far arranging the good entertainment for Friday and getting the fa- vors for the tables. She had good helpers, Amy Shaw, Jane Wright and Marie Wilde to put them together which made the dining room festive and cheerful. Leon and Louise Simister passed out some aromatic sachet's so we smell good along with being good like we told Santa we were. Our entertainment was a group of young ladies (well, from where we sit they are young ladies) from Henefer. They were Robyn Knudsen, Letha Mikesell, Joni Richins, Cheryl Lund. Bridget Dallin, and Pamela Robbins. Their program was real neat, all Christmas tunes and they even got Grant Geary, Donald Judd and Leon Simister involved id one act. We thank them, they have the Christmas Spirit for ' sure. They took the time out of their busy schedules to volunteer their time and talents plus having to travel just to entertain us older folks. We give them a big hand and invite them to come again. Then to top the day off right, George Perkins had arranged for Santa Claus, in the form of Phil Bristow to bestow a box of chocolates to each one of us. After which the club gave George a neat bird house and the Merry Christmas placard that Leon Simister painted. Now, that was a good week, don't you think? To bad we don't have one like it at least once a month. But then if that happened, we would get spoiled. The bus will be leaving the center at 6 p.m. on Friday, the 26th, to go to George Perkins home. I understand that Bill Hersh will bring the people from Henefer over which will save time for us. We have the bus nearly full but if we need other vehicles, we have some willing volunteers that don't mind driving at night This will be the last time we get together until New Year's Eve which is a pot luck supper. In the meantime we hope you all enjoy the holidays. Make Safe and Courteous Driving Your New Year's Resolution : Start the new year off right: make a commitment to drive safer beginning right now. Alcohol- - 964-600- How To Keep The Air in Your Home Healthy Our homes are a haven for ourselves, our families and friends, but could the air in your home be. threatening the good health of its occupants? Yes. We often take simple steps to protect ourselves and our families, such as installing smoke detectors or child proofing our homes. Yet, few of us recognize that the air we breathe inside our homes can often be more seriously polluted than outdoor air, even if one lives in a large industrial city. This coupled with the fact that we spend a large amount of time inside our homes, makes indoor air quality a health concern. Poor indoor air can make us feel tired or dizzy, make our eyes itch or our throats scratchy. It can bring on asthma attacks, spread infectious disease, or even cause cancer or death. The Utah Safety Council sug drowsiness, asthma, humidifier fever and digestive problems. Test your home for radon. Radon is a radioactive gas that enters your home through the surrounding soil and can cause lung Subscribe To The Summit County Bee cancer over a period of years. Purchase and use chemicals such as pesticides, paint supplies and hobby products sparingly and with adequate ventilation. Store these products away from food, children and outside of the hone. Lead based paint poses a serious risk to children. If your home was built before 1978 and you believe your home may have lead based paint, contact a professional or call the Utah Safety Council.
