The local Lions dub, organized oyer 55 years ago, has a long and outstanding reputation for community service with the residents of the Kamas Valley. For example', many community landmarks we take for granted such as the local gun cub, the senior citizens center, the town park building and the Mirror Lake Highway, were either created or improved by past and present members of the local Lions club. .. , .Rotary,, on the other hand, is new to the valley, but is the oldest international service club in existence, having its Origin in Chicago 1 in 1905, " ; Both ctybs are'dedicated to' the purpose of providing useful and meaningful service, to the residents of the Kamas Valley. Each club has over 20 members, each of whom contribute both money and service stiff rp iip to community service projects each year. Knowing first hand the value of service, both clubs realized that that are also many other members of the community who perform countless hours of service each year. It was agreed that the first joint project between the two clubs should be the establishment of an annual Kamas VolunteerService Recognition Award.
