Show Friday, May 9, 1997 Tha Summit County Boo 5A An open letter to Senator Robert Bennett... North Summit the board members and officers on Friday to move plans along.' We should know pretty soon when the starting date will be. We do know that the club is going to be responsible for some out of pocket money in order to get the job done. We were happy to have Gordon with us both days even though he only dined with us on Friday. He was joined by Dick Livingston, from Mountainlands. We held a short meeting with the officers, then both Gordon and Dick said a few words to us. Dick is looking for an intelligent, interested person to work with David Ure and Lyle Hilyard, our state senator and representative from, this district. We think we have one from Park City to work with Mr. Ure. This is to address issues that are of concern to people of our age. We don't call ourselves seniors now, we call. us mature adults. If you are in our age bracket and would like to represent us, we would be happy to hear from Senidr Citizens by Louisa Wallace We've had so much bad news this week we ait almoit afraid to take a call or open a letter but life has to go on and we cart't change things no matter how badly we would like to. We do send our greetings to all and hope each day is a little brighter than the one before. We were so pleased to learn that Loraine (Garfield) Rock was able to bring her husband, Winn home and he was doing well so it was a bit of a shock to hear that his funeral was to be held on Tuesday in Idaho. We will be happy to see her again, the sooner the better. Then we heard that Bill Hersh had broken his hip shortly after leaving the Center. The very ;ame doctor that repaired his other one about twenty years ago fixed this one up too and says he will be fine. Bill is now in the rehab center at McKay-De- e Hospital, and we hope he is doing what he is (old. Elsie Oswald has had the flu. She was to sick to attend church to wit--; ness the blessing of niece, Elsie Mae Peck's baby daughter, and I know she was looking forward to that event. . We had a letter from Emajean and Wallace Hansen. She has had eye surgery and still has some double vision, and Wallace has had to undergo a second colon surgery which set him back a bit with his other treatment. They are hoping he can soon leave the care center in Provo and move back to the one in Salt Lake so she can visit him more regularly. I visited Marie Sawley. She looks pretty good and says, they are good to her but she does miss all of her friends and sends her love. President Delia Griffith was busy and happy to have so many in attendance. LaRita was busy too, served 103 meals this week not s. counting the Shaw shared two of her most Amy recent paintings. One was a beautiful summer mountain scene (You could almost hear the water) and the other was a snowy winter scene. Real nice Amy, they should take first prize no matter where you enter them. Meals-On-Wheel- We had a number of guests this week. Lola and Neal Staley are back from Arizona. Debi Bryant was collecting more information for her studies and the sweet ladies from Kamas were here to make sure all the dolls were finished. We gave a great big shout of "Hooray' when Mary. Mair displayed hers. She hasn't been one to do crafts before -she did it all by herself, with a lot of help. Right, Mary? Brian Bellamy and Anita Lewis, from the county, and our coordinator, Gordon Taylor, was with us. Brian and Anita explained where we stood on the plans for the kitchen. Then Brian and Gordon met with Dick and Gordon encourage the officers to attend the training symposium on May 28 and all seniors have been invited to spend a social "Out Reach Program" on June 25. You'll hear more about that and Gordon is going to try to make arrangements for a big bus. . The band practiced and they remind us: "If you are to weak to journey up the mountain steep and high. You can stand within the valley, while the multitudes go by. You can chant in happy measure, as they slowly pass along; Tho you may forget the singer, you will not forget the song." by Gates by Afton Grotepas May 1: Mildly cool today.
