' This week, at the Summit County Animal Shelter, we have four adorable Springer SpanielHeeler mix puppies. These puppies are approximately 10 weeks old and they have been at the Summit County Animal Shelter for a month, so they are desperately in need of loving, responsible, homes. Spaniels and Heeler are active breeds, so these particular puppies would make perfect companions for hikers, joggers, or anyone with an active lifestyle. Also available, are two pure black kittens, a manx kitten, and a calico adult cat. Please remember, that when giving pets as Christmas presents, to keep in mind a few important factors: 1 . What kind of lifestyle does the recipient have? Make sure that the breed of pet you choose matches the lifestyle of the person that you are buying for. 2. Always research the breed that you choose. Make sure you are aware of all of it's needs. 3. Does the person you are buying for have the time and money to properly take care of the pet? Any of you who have had pets before know how much they can cost to take care of. 4. Does the person you arc buying for really want a pet? Never give pets as surprise gifts. Always consult with the person you are buying for. 5. Check your local animal shelter to see if they have the pet you are looking for. Chances are they do! There are many factors to consider when purchasing a pet. The factors mentioned above do not cover all of the questions you should be asking yourself. The point is to make informed decisions about purchasing pets. Never buy on impulse. Summit County Animal Control would also like to remind you that there is a leash law in the county. Please! don't let your dog loose to run throughout the neighborhood, keep them confined on your property or have them on a leash. Also, be sure to license your dog at either the shelter or your local veterinarian. A license helps to ensure that your dog will be returned to you, should it ever get lost. The shelter holds dogs for five days before putting them up for adoption. If we can't tell that you are the owner, you may find that your dog has been adopted to someone else. Our shelter is located three miles east of Wanship on S.R. 32. Shelter hours are Monday to Friday 1 1 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can call for more information. 9 There are many animals needing a home and love.
