Show Friday, April 5, 1996 Swimmer Goes Soirrh Summit School News lies, ed honors in sports throughout the year. Tributes were paid to these dedicated, disciplined, and talented youth while "Simply The Best" played. The cheerleaders came bounding onto the floor, and while the crowd was still standing, everyone joined in the school song. As these athletes left the floor, the night continued with the Fauvines performing "Shout, Come On, I Dream in Color, Kick Military, Dance, and Novelty". These routines were interspersed with performances by the cheerleaders: Chelsea and Gis'elle McNeil and Sammi Mitchell; a solo by Tara Beckstead; a solo by Jesica Goodworth; and a tribute to Advisors, Billie Jo and Billie Sue McNeil, by Captain Stacy Moon and Noel Miles. andspectata Dennia Glade1! voice as MC and music floated ti ough the air, as each member oft e Drill Team was introduced on the Inn of her chosen esdort - father, brother, or grandfather. The Fauvines looked elegant as they came onto the floor, not in a drill uniform, but in evening wear and proudly accompanied by handsome men. The flow was cleared and "We Are The Champions" blared overhead while the Parade of Cham-pi-owas viewed by a crowd who came to their feet clapping and State cheering. The two-tim- e Wrestling Team and third year Coach of The Year, Wade e, entered the gym, followed by the Region Champion Jjdy Cat Basketball Team and Volleyball Team. The Swim Team was next in the parade followed by several individuals who had achiev . in Mysterious "Special Guests" took the floor at one point in the show and as the pom poms were lowered, the guests were revealed as none other than the Drill Team moms! The audience hooted, hollered, screamed, and clapped as the moms showed their stuff with a wonderfully executed routine! The Wool-stenhulm- Fauvines gave their moms jl standing ovation for their performance, good natures, support and love! The show concluded with the lights out, except for the skyline of New York City and the sounds of a car motor and headlights shining from a beautiful vintage car (courtesy of Gary Moon - Drill Team dad). The air was foggy and spotlights suddenly shone out in the mist were "Dream Guys", Allen McNeil, John Stevens, Sam Aplanalp, and Clint Rydalch, in the darkness. "Get Out of My Dreams and Into My Car" played as each Fauvine floated out of the darkness and into the arms of the "Dream Guys". The guys then released each girl and she floated on toward the car. Glade was chosen as a member of the Academic Team in swimming. D.J. has been a swimmer all through his high school career and has made many incredible accomplishments. DJ.'s dedication to the sport is one reason that the swim team gets All-Sta- te won different story. The Ladycats were strong after only 3 innings under their belt. The Ladycat defense couldn't be beat. Nicole Foust pitched an extraordinary seven inning game. Nothing could get past the Ladycat's incredible infield, but if it did their awesome outfield was ready. Sondi Mitchell and Brittani Gordon both had beautiful triples and Nicole Foust added to .a fabulous team batting avetage with a double. Soldi and Brittani also both had doubles. The Ladycats scored three game winning runs in the bottom of the 7th inning for a comeback victory over the Lady Eagles. The final score was a nail biting 10-- 14-- 3. The second game, however, was a Baseball Travels To Monroe: March 30, the South Summit baseball team traveled down to Monroe in search of a playable field to hold their game. They found one without snow or mud covering the diamond. They were scheduled for a double header against Millard, the number 4 ranked team in the suue. During the first game, it was a no scorer going into the fifth in ning when things started to click for the Eagles. They started to hit the ball and get some steals. They didn't stop time they went on to win the game 10-- Jason Haymore started the first game as the pitcher, and Wade Cooper was the catcher. They switched pitchers from Jason to Robert Crandell. Jason Haymore took the loss in that game. The second game went better for the South Summit Wildcats who scored three runs behind the hitting of Jake Pederson, John Stevens, Wes Wilson. Despite an improved effort, the Cats lost this game with the final score of 3. The pitchers for this game were Jake Pederson and Wes Wilson. Jake was handed the loss. 7-- The team continues to improve, and it will really help when they can actually practice on real grass and an infield that isn't the gym floor. He is also on the 200 and 400 Free Relay teams: Jason has set school records in both relay events. His personal record leg time in the 200 Free was 24 seconds. He swam the 400 Free in 34 seconds. His competitive spirit and enthu- siastic strokes help put South Summit at the top of the charts. Congratulations to Jason for all his accomplishments and his placement on the Academic team. Nate McEntire, and Tim Jason Scales Ladycats Split Season Opener The South Summit Ladycats traveled way south to play Millard for a double header on Saturday, March 30. This was the first time the Ladycats had actually seen grass on a real field. In die first game, the Lady Eagles were strong scoring nine runs in the first inning. Brittani Gordon did an excellent job pitching for the first time in her career. She pitched die entire five inning game. Sondi Mitchell, Tina Milliner, and Brittani Gordon got the bats going and the Ladycats scored three runs. In the end, the three runs were not enough for success over the Lady Eagles. Millard On Wednesday March 27, the South Summit Wildcats traveled to Morgan to take on the Trojans. The team has been putting in a lot of effort throughout the season, but still bigger and better every year. His example of hard work and determination to succeed helps the younger swimmers want to keep going. D J. was a team captain this year for his ended.
