The Westbyes have a Swedish and Norwegian heritage and like to participate in the cultural traditions from those countries. Sometimes, they even forget they live in the USA when they get involved with die activities. Since moving to Kalmias, the children enjoy the freedom that our town has to offer compared to living in the big city in Texas. Theyre all looking forward to some snow and hope that we have a winter like last years so they can enjoy it Steven enjoys skiing and speed skating, while Kristina likes to play the piano and do crafts. both They enjoy cooking, especially Scandinavian food. If you get a chance to meet these fine people, it will be to your advantage. We welcome them here and are glad they chose Kamas to live and hope they feel at home here in our valley. , North Summit South Summit Senior Citizens Senior Citizens We all had to put on our happy faces as we took part in the activities this week. Why? Because three young fellows were there taking moving pictures and this might be our last chance to play a starring role. They were Douglas and Christopher Jensen and Shawn Seagar, from the JIV Studios in Orem, and they were doing the project for Mountainlands. Sure hope they found our group an interesting subject President Jerry Burt was back with us on Friday (left Lillie home to catch up on the laundry). Vice President Eleanor Morby was real glad to see him. Actually, she shouldered the responsibilities real well while we were gone but it is a relief to have someone to share them with. Just in case he is interested, the rest of us were glad to see him, too. We bid farewell to Rachel Wright, who will be going south to spend die winter with a daughter. Must be nice to have kids living in both climates so you can take advantage of the best time of the year in each area. Well look forward to seeing you in the spring, Rachel. We extend our sympathies to Delia Griffith and her family who just lost a new little Even though her time on earth has been very short, she will leave precious memories behind. Once again, we are thinking of Mick Ball who has bad another fall, and to Amy Potter, who is living in the London Springs Care Center in Heber City. We wish improved health for both of them. We send get well wishes to Pauline (French) Hischier, who lives in Billings, MT, and has had two surgeries in two weeks. She is doing remarkably well for one who has passed die mark. Business meetings were conducted by Vice President Morby on Wednesday and by President Burt on Friday. Minutes were ready by Marr Hen nek on Wednesday while Secretary Woodrow Nielson was attending a meeting in our best interests in Provo. He was back to do the honors on Friday. Prayers were offered by June Toole and Lorraine Garfield. Time was given to our representative, Kay Dearden, who joined us on Friday. She gave us an update on just what is going on that is to our best interests. Jerry accepted Woodrow Nielson's resignation as our representative on the volunteer program for seniors. The meetings are held in Provo, and we are looking for someone to fill this position. Im afraid it will be difficult to find another one like Woodrow. We do thank him for everything. Beulah Willoughby read us a letter she and the band had received from the North Summit Alumni Gub in thanks for being part of their program. We have some great ambassadors and appreciate them for die good work they do. They let us enjoy listening to their practice session on Friday. Marie Sawley was our special birthday girl when we sang to her on Wednesday in honor of her 90th birthday. She certainly carries those years without them showing. Bet she'll be around awhile yet and that is what we are hoping for. Eleanor thanked all those who take the dinners out to the home-boun- d folks. They have to be delivered Cast so these volunteers head out in different directions before they rejoin us to eat their own dinners. A special thanks this week to Frank Toole, Grant Geary, Delia Griffith, Jerry and Lillie Burt, and to anyone we might have missed. The group gave them a big round of heartfelt applause. Without this kind of help, die program could not goon. Its time this weekend to turn back the clocks to standard time. Remember to set the clock back one hour on Saturday night. Its also Halloween. The night the witches and goblins roam the streets with their goodie bags. The skeletons will be rattling around and causing all kinds of trouble, The Senior Citizens met on Monday and were welcomed by our officers. We had two new members, Lee and Ruth Johnson. We welcomed back Thelma Wilde. Gordon had to go to Coalville to a meeting so he left early. Edna Fitzgerald conducted the meeting. We were informed our dear, sweet friend, Ralph Richards, had passed away. Our sympathy to his family.
