They consisted of parades, programs, sports activities, chil- . -- dren dance, adult dances, barbecue and lunches. When the celebration became the "Fiesta," Rhoades Valley DUP supported those activities. . Those groups of Daughters had many activities such as writing histories, collecting relics, quilting, honoring elderly Daughters on their birthdays, having parties, ect They have constantly urged their own building in which to hold their meetings and house their relies and records. They had many fundraising projects, some being a cantata which netted $33.31; homemade food sale; to parties; quilted quilts; cook meals for Lions Club; ecL They had a silver fund where each daughter would put in 3 cents each meeting. They purchased a lot 40,x401 from Nellie McCotmick for $23. The choice of this lot was due to the fact it was on the spot of the old fort which was constructed in the early days of settling Rhoades Valleyjor protection from the In- -. dians. There is a marker commemorating this fort Alma Warr made a model of die fort which is in the DUP Cabin. ; their members to write histories and preserve our pioneer heritage in that manner. The last few years, the Daughters have had bake sales during the July 24th celebrations and have given programs in Church meetings concerning our pioneer her--; itage.
