Another advantage Park City Ski Area has over many other resorts is that much of the terrain lends itself to good early season skiing. Many ski areas have rocky, jagged terrain under their runs that takes high snow depths to cover. With Park City's rolling terrain the area has been able to keep the topsoil on its runs and plant them with grass seed. Thus the area can provide better skiing with less snow. Ski Area officials credit the excellent early season conditions to expanded snowmaking capabilities, careful grooming and summer trail work. "Our snowmaking system has definitely worked to our advantage this year, said Park City Ski Area President Phil Jones. "It was While snowfall this season has been lower than normal, it appears that relief may be in sight. Alcohol and its abuse have an impact on virtually every level of our society, including children, families and communities. Alcohol abuse is directly related to birth defects, mental illness, accidents, family violence, teenage suicide, homelessness and lost productivity, with social costs totaling more than $120 billion per year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reported in 1987.
