1 The Eureka Reporter Page Four V - June 28, 1984 K RESOURCEFUL " Utah Power has three aces in the hole: Were close to some of the best coal in the world; We own or control enough of that coal to last the entire lifetime of our power plants; We can count on unusually resourceful people to mine and deliver . that coal. But our treasure is buried deep. It takes precision engineering and operations savvy to dig it out safely and efficiently. Last year, the companys mines, operated by the Emery Mining Corp., produced almost 5 million tons-m- ore than a third of Utahs total production. And our mines rank among the leaders of Utahs coal mines in terms of productivity. One key to that good record is the introduction of the revolutionary longwall mining technique. This method greatly increases the amount of coal that can be recovered from the earth. Its almost like finding another mine. Its safer, too. But the human factor-t- he intelligent efforts and imagination of the people involved in coal production-- is the ultimate resource. I They merit, a.good.word. , i i .it 4 ifiglDll.
