A lot of people have been waiting and wondering when it will air. The time is finally here! The Maldonado Miracle will air on Sunday, October 12lh at 6 p.m. for the very first time. Some lucky residents that were involved with the film actually got a sneak peek in January at the Sundance Film Festival, but for most of us this will be our first glimpse. The Maldonado Miracle was actress Salma Hayek's directorial debut and starred award winning Peter Fonda, Mare Winningham, and Rueben Blades. However, there were many extras from Eureka also in the film! The Maldonado Miracle takes place in California just on the Mexican border. In the movie, a small boy, Jose Maldonado comes across the state lines looking for his father. In his search, he gets hurt and hides in a church in an old run down town. He bleeds on a statue and the town is turned upside down because they think it's a miracle. The movie takes us on the journey of this small town and is a heart warming story that we can share with our kids! Many residents have said that the story in the movie isn't so far from our own story. The movie left its mark on Eureka and they left things better than they found them. Not only did they transform our small town but they also became "honorary citizens". Many of our kids knew the actors on a first name basis. They also donated money to many organizations including the high school! The movie will appear on the Showtime East channel on Sunday night.
