Show UINTAH BASIN STANDARD. W. Norris Little Billy" William Leon Norris age 42, passed away August 10, 2002 at his home in Vernal. He was bom August 18, 1959 in Albuquerque, New Mexico the son of Grady Lorenzo and Rosalie Cleo Merchant Norris. Billy was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church in Vernal. He worked in the Oil fields and lumberyard. Billy loved raising and racing horses, fishing, end camping. He is survived by his children, William Frank, Summer Rose, Sunny John, Sage Norris and Amy Hewitt; mother, Rosalie Corsi of Mayer, Arizona; companion, Carla Peters; sisters, Carol fJessie) Abercrombie of Phoenix, Arizona; nephew, Donny Robinson of Vernal, Utah formally of Phoenix, Arizona; 3 grandchildren. Heaven, Skye and Gabriel Hewitt; step children, Mikey Allen, Samuel Kellen Oaks, Christina Peters; Ex wife. Pansy Tiyon of Roosevelt and many loving friends. Christopher Johnson, 17, died Aug. 9. A selection committee of six people from different parts ofthe community chose to focus on good neighbors who have worked hard to beautify their yards, explained Larry Murray of the Roosevelt City Council and head of the selection committee. Each home was suggested by residents of Roosevelt who thought these people deserved the award. The first award was given to Diane Riche ns, a single mother who takes great pride in her yard. Diane has never put in ayard before and has done it all with the help of a good friend. I never thought I d win an award. Its been e month and I am still shocked. Iftel very inadequate to have won, but Im very thankful for the ward. It makes your heart swell to have others notice all your hard work. I love to make a difference in the community, "commented Diane. She ays she loves to have people drive by and see her yard and would love any suggestions on how to make it even better. Bird Irvin Clarence Bird, age 77, of Rooeevelt, passed away August 8, 2002, at home surrounded by his ftmily alter a long illness. He was born December 12, 1924, to Clarence Oran and Lydia Liaonbee Bird. He married Marba Lois Mecham on December 12, 1946 in Roosevelt. Their marriage was solemnized June 20, 1960, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Irvin served in the US Navy during World War II. He really eqjoyed his family, and was an active member of the LDS Church. He served in various ceilings that he really eryoyed. He loved playing the harmonica while hie grandchildren danced end sang. He loved going to the mountains, hunt- - . where he was employed as a diesel mechanic. He always worked hard and provided well for his family. He is survived by his wife, Lois, Roosevlet; children, Beverly (Dee) Hullinger, Rooeevelt; Dorothie (Ed) Hullinger, Vernal; Irva Lee (Doug) Duncan, West Valley; Roddie (Barbara) Bird, Tracy (Pam) Bird, Becky Reynolds, Dallas (Jerry) Harrison, all of Roosevelt;. 31 grandchildren, 43 , brothers and sisters, John (Donna) Bird, Keith (Annie) Bird, Melvin (Ola) Bird, Dolly (Sherm) Sorenson, Stella Amee, and Jack (Joan) Bird. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles, Oran, Alva, Leo, Clinton, Marion, and 2 grandchildren, Misty and Chris Hullinger. The average live weight of 175 pounds compared with 195 pounds last year. Sheep and lamb slaughter during June 2002 totaled 2,300 head, the same as a year ago. Average live weight at 131 pounds was up nine pounds from a year ago. Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 3.81 billion pounds in June, up one percent from the 3.79 billion pounds produced in June 2001. Beef production, at 2.3 billion pounds, was one percent above the previous year. Cattle slaughter totaled 3.06 million head, down two percent from June 2001. The average live weight was 1,236 pounds, up 38 pounds, six percent below June a year ago and a new record low for June. Calf slaughter totaled 75,900 hesd, down two percent from June 2001. The average live weight was 319 pounds, down 14 pounds from June a Viola Bond Kelsey passed away August 6, 2002, at the age of 93 due to natural causes. She was residingat the Art City Care ft Rehabilitation Center inSpringville, Utah, at the time of her death. Viola was born April 16, 1909 to Hyrum Jesse and La vina Elizabeth Bushnell Bond in Meadow, Utah. She married Clyde R. Kelsey, and their marriage was sealed at the Salt Lake Temple June 10, 1954. Clyde preceded her in death on November 4, 1985. Viola resided in Roosevelt, Utah, for most of her life, where she raised 5 children . She was active in the Church ofJesus Christ of Latter-Da- y Saints, where she held many positions including genealogist. She is survived by her children; Raeola Holm, Delores Kelsey, Springville, Richard and Dan Kelsey, Roosevelt. She was preceded i Kelsey. Graveside services will be held year ago.'
