Nickie Casper of Salt Lake spent a week visiting Robert and Pat Casper. Mr. andMrs.Arvel Rhoades returned home from San Diego, California after spending 11 days visiting relatives. Someone you know had a work on exhibit, more than likely several people of your acquaintance. What a variety ofentertainments were to be found- - variety variof age groups and of media-an- d ety within particular media. If you entered the LDSWestStake Center at the proper door-t-he northeast one you were first confronted by quilts. There were old ones along with ones recently quilted. There were traditional patterns and novel ones- wonderful display ofcolor and design. Professional artists came next if you did the periphery flrst-a-a I did-a- nd went clockwise around the room: paintings, photographs, and a startling dinosaur group sculpture with vividly realized textures andeolors as they might well have been seen when these beasts Btalked the earth. Then, asyou followed the west wall, you came to more photographs and then graphic arts other than paint-i- n charcoal pieces and, right on the west wall, some cut-p- a per works by John Weight that I found intriguing, especially a black on'white one titled "Juan 2001, which reminded me of the French revolution except that the scene was clearly Hispanic with the rifle toting woman clad in a flowing Spanish gown. I cannot conceive of the patience and manual dexterity required to achieve the strong effect that piece had on me. The three walls accounted for (the fourth being dominated by the Btage ), I started working around the tableson which were paintings and pencil sketches. Lots of exciting things her.
