Show - Pag 4 - Duchesne High School Duchesne High proudly announces their Sterling Scholar Candidates for the 2001-200- 1 school year. Fourteen young men and women will compete in their area of excellence at the regional Sterling Scholar competition. Roy Poulson, the son of Stan and Nadine Poulson. is the Mathematics Sterling Scholar. He participates in FBLA and has entered the District Arts Fairs. Roy serves on the seminary council and works at Al's Food Town. Roy plays piano and is enrolled in several USU concurrent enrollment classes. Ryan Moat is the Computer Technology Sterling Scholar. He is the son of David and RoLayne Moat. Ryan enjoys being able to create his own computer programs. He has been on the honor roll every term, is active in cross country and wrestling, and recently won a wrestling state championship. Brant Moon, the Music Sterling Scholar, is the son of Lee and Kathy Moon. He is involved in extemporaneous speaking and spar, and has had leading roles with vocal solos in four school musical productions. Brant has been e Choir for two in years and plays the piano and percussion instruments. He participates on the Academic Decathlon team. All-Stat- Dayne Grant the son of Daryl Grant and Vienna Grant, is the Foreign Language Sterling Scholar. He serves as the German Club president and is active in high school sports, achieving Academic in cross All-Stat- e country. I Carrie Hill . the daughter of Don and Ellen Hill, is the Family and Consumer Sciences Sterling Scholar. She has participated in three national FCCLA competitions. Girls' State, and is an active member of Carrie also 4-- enjoys playing volleyball and serves as Senior Class President. Doug DeMille will represent Duchesne High as die General Sterling Scholar. He is the son of Brent and Gayle DeMille. Doug serves as the seminary president and has earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He has performed in school plays and received the Academic Football award. He plays the piano and has participated in Academic Decathlon for two years. Doug was named Team Scholar last year, and was recently named Outstanding Senior Business Student. All-Sta- te Dalaney Mecham. the son of Lee and Jeannie Mecham, is the Speech and Drama Sterling Scholar. He has had leading roles in several school plays, including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Dalaney is currently serving as the Student Body President at Duchesne High. Randy Hanbeig . the TYade and Technical Education Sterling Scholar, is die son of Wayne and Jan Hanberg Randy owns and manages his own cattle business. He is the captain of the basketball team and has earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Nikki Moon . the daughter of Kenneth and Nancy Moon, is the Dance Sterling Scholar. She was named queen in the Miss Duchesne Queen contest She has been a drill member of the team for three consecutive drill years and the team for four consecutive All-Sta- All-Regi- Heber Hamilton is the Science Sterling Scholar and is the son of Gail and Shannon Hamilton. He has participated in Academic Decathlon for two years, winning awards in the categories of super quiz and interview. He has earned his Duty to God award in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Da- y Saints and the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. "poor I |
