A Subscription to the STANDARD New physicians contribute to hospital's increased revenues By Thercnu Morrill Makes an Excellent Holiday Giftl the month of October, an increase Accordingto financial information released by Uintah Busin Medical Center administration, October 200 1 was a record month for the hospital. "Oct ober is the biggest month ever in terms of gross revenues, H snid UHMC administrator Brad LcBaron ut the Nov. 113 hospital board meeting. IxiBamn referred to the October riiianciiilstutementsBhcetand graphs presented by hospital Chief Financial Officer Brent Hales that illus-- t rated the hospitals finances and sta-- t is tics in comparison to the previous seven years. In all, the hospitals total assets in October increased by $322,000 over the month of September. Actual cash on hand increased by $203,000 giving the hospital 86 days of cosh on hand. Total equity now totals $18,433,1X10 which is an increase of $100,(KX from September. Is'Iiiiron said i is still too soon to know for certain if the improved financial statistics are directly related to the influx of ten new physicians who have come on Issird at the medical center, hut it is highly likely they an- - ut least purtially responsible. Other statistics seem to support that theory. For example, there was a total of 331 imtient admissions for from 299 total admissions for October 2000. History has shown that a hospitals census increases as the numlier of physicians on staff increases. The average daily census for October was 21 .7 patients. This means we are on a pace to have an increase of our average daily census for the fiscal year 2002, said Hales. Other fuctors pointing to the success of the new physicians is the increase of visits for October. They are up 14.1 percent over last years average. And surgeries have increased by ten percent compared to October of last year. People are still having babies in the Uintah Basin, and UBMC is maintaining a fuirly stable trend of about 34 deliveries per month. Actual per month for fiscal year 2002 is 34.6, showinga slight increase over lust year. While the overall indebtedness of the hospital was decreased by $24,000 and the facility still has $4, 190,000 in indebtedness. out-patie- The Uintah Basin Medical Center's fiscal year runs from July 1, 2001 to June 30, 2002, so administration can only estimate current an- Uintah Basin - - - Through kA Delivery IN December 31, 2001 -- the Uintah Basin Area Prices Good With Coupon i I Only!! nual trends based on the fuur months of data available for fiscal year 2002.
