Show BUSY BUNC'I I Union's Chclscy Glincs, Jainic Labrum and Tabiona's Tomi Thomas, Nikkic Bagley, Kristine Tumbow battle for position out on the volleyball court, Tuesday in Roosevelt. QaMial JJwucfhJtA Three former Cougars, Brandon Dart, Sam While, Kevin Wilson has started or seen mgjor pluyingtimeon the Utah football team and Jackie Morrill, who is another Cougar, but the Lady version, is a member of the Utah volleyball squad. Dart was graduated from Northridge High School near Suit Lake City, but attended Union as a sophomore and junior. White and Wilson were members of Unions championship team in 1993. Utah Coach Ron McBride gave Union credit for providing many fine athletes over the years for his Ute team during an interview on KUTV-ChunnTwos Tulkin Sports" program, Sunday, August 26. Former Union Coach Don 3-- Maybe Union I iigh School Rlinuld change its name from the Cougars" to the Utcs" i f Ui n la dnotm T m i nd , or the University nfUtuli ought to be renamed the Cougars if BYU doesn't care since Utah has laid numerous Union Cougars us members cf thcirulhlclic teams indudingfoot-bal- l and vnljcybull 1 cl , Busenbark is a Brigham Young University graduate, and I would call him up and tease him whenever the University of Utah beat the BYU Cats. My favorite numbers were 34-1- 7 or 34-- 7 (whatever the final score was with Utah on top of the BYU pigskin carriers). However, Busenbark ruined all my fun because he said, Im rooting for Utah because they have some of my former Cougars on their team, and BYU doesnt have any. Busenbark apoiled my bragging day,but there is always Uintah Coach and No. 1 BYU fan, Curg Belcher to torment whenever Utah whips BYU. One time I called and left a message as follows: I hope BYU Coach LaVell Edward doesnt get fired over this loss to Utah, and announced my name as King AT because I felt like royalty after beating the Cats. A few years later, BYU nipped Utah when the Utes missed a last second field goal. I left my car in a hurry to call Belcher from a pay phone so I could say, We (Utah) let BYU Win!" I was able to get a joke in before Belcher paid me back for all my funny comments over Utah triumphs. In a related Cougar matter I eqjpy listening to football, basketball, baseball games on the radio, but it seems that folks, who do the games in the Duchesne County area dont give the score often enough. I guess they are punishing a person for not tuning in right from the start instead of late in the fourth quarter. I picked up the signal of the Union-Lefootball game and waited forever to find out the score. There was a break for a commercial, but no one said, Before a word from a sponsor the score is such and such. Finally, I had to do the unthinkable. Since Lehi had the ball, I rooted for them to produced aTDso that I could find out what team was ahead. Sadly, I discov1 ered the score had been tied at had willed Lehi to a 13-- 7 lead and they eventually won the game, 19-hi MONSTER TRUCK I 'ans will be treated to high flying action at an event in Vernal at Western Park this month. 7-- 7. 4x4 Daredevils to appear Sept. 15 Olie Anderson's 4x4 Daredevils will be town in Vernal at the Pepsi National M ud Hog & Monst er Showdown at Western Park's OuUkKrs, Saturday, September to, starting at 7 p.m. (Gates open at 5:30 p.m.i. My solution is to listen to some advice from an old baseball broadcaster, Red Barber, who would use a three-minut- e egg timer (asand-fille- d item) to let him know it was time to give the score. Please do that Earl Hawkins and Fred Brown (keep jokes) so I dont have to ever again root for Lehi. o Finally, this last event has with formerCougar athletes orusingeggtimersduringball games.
