She was born June 30, 1911 in Cedarview, Utah the oldest of 8 children to John II. and Nora L. Smith Davis. She was raised and educated In the Uintah Basin and attended Menage rs Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. Thelma married David E. Ted Nye in 1932 and this marriage was solemnized in the Salt I oi We Temple. In 1934, they moved toTabiona, Utah 2fWQ where they lived and raised their family. She wasa faithful member or the LDS Church where she served in many teaching and leadership positions. Thelma was active in the DUP serving as Captain of the Sacaga wea Ctmip. She was secretary for the Tabiuna High School and served as Tabiona Post Master for 20 years. Thelma and Ted spent their winters in St. George from the time of retirement until Ted's death and then she lived in Sandy and St. George until her death. Theltna is survived by 3 children: Ted & Phyllis Nve, Mesquite, NV., LaRena& LynnCurry, Washington, UT., and Carl & Louise Nye. Noble, OK.; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; 4 brothers: Emmett & Marge, Red & Rainy, & Reed Davisof California. K" & Mary Davis, Santa Clara. UT. She was preceded in death by husband: Ted; son: Charles W., granddaughter: Debra Kay Curry, great grandson: JeiTTadlock; 1 sister and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be held in the Tabiona LDS Ward Chapel Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at 11.00 a.m. with viewing from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45a.m. Aviewingwillalso be held Tuesday. December 12th from 6.00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Olpin Mortuary in Heber City, Utah. Interment will be in the Tabiona ' The snow is great!! Come ski with us. The Uintah Recreation District is taking registrations for a Saturday ski trip. This will be on December 16th and will be going to the Sundance Ski Resort. Buses will leave from the Vernal Middle School at 5:30 a.m. (Roosevelt Participants will be picked up at the Davis Jubilee parking at 6:00 a.m.) and will return to the school at approximately 7:00 p.m. Cost for the bus ride and lift ticket to Sundance will be S40.00. Discount rentals will be available at the resort. Registrations will be accepted on a first come basis and will be taken at the recreation office located at 134 West Main (Chamber building). Mace Thelma Celestia Arnold Baum Santa Claus David Norbert Baum, age 80, died December 9, 2000. at home in Duchesne of natural causes. He was born May. 23, 1920, in Duchesne to David William and Merle Marie Bancroft Baum. He married Lela Pearl Horn on August 9, 1948, in Texas. David lived a very full life. He flew in World War II in Germany as a bombardier. He then worked for a surveyor company that waa headquartered in the Canary Islands. This job took him around the world: South Africa, the Sahara Desert, and the jungles of South America. After he retired, he came back to Duchesne and worked in the water department, the volunteer fire department as Fire Chief, and as an EMT instructor. He was a past Commander of the VFW, and was a very active member of the KRA ie has always been known as Santa Claus by the entire family because he would always go finding people in need and then would go door to door getting donations. He and his wife couldnt havechildren of their own so every child was theirs. He liked everything and everybody. He is survived by his wife, Lela, Roosevelt; brothers and sisters, J. McCormick. ARNOLD Thelms Celestia Arnold, age 60, of Gusher, died peacefully December 1, 2000, at home. She was bom April 1, 1940, to Francis Regina! and Eva Velma Tucker Starkley in Ogden, Utah. Thelmaeqjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, painting, working in her flower garden, and especially decorating for the holidays. She loved the outdoors and the mountains where she would go fishing. She was a wonderful grandmother and alwayi enjoyed when the family would get together. She was bora July 10, 1925, in Coyote, NM, to Emelia Morfin and Tomaa Velasquez. She married Jose G. M rtinez, he later died. She married Felix Vigil, and later he died. Anitaeqjoyedhayingfriendsover and playing bingo with them. When she was younger she worked in her garden, she also eqjqyed fishing, camping, crocheted, and did needlework. She waa a member of the SL Helen's Catholic Church. He ha&jesided in Missoula for the past 12 years. Lyle was bora Jan. 30, 1951 in Roosevelt, UT to Presley and Clara Olsen Timothy. He was a member of the LDS Church and served two yean in the North German mission. He graduated from BYU and attended MIT, where he received his Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering. He was preceded in death by his father. Mace, 61, of Myton, Utah passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. She was bora May 11, 1939 in Strawberry, Utah to Forest and Ila Ivie. She married Delbert Mace February 20, 1963. She grew up in Duchesne County and attended schools there. Darlene collected dolls and especially eqjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. She had a great love for animals and made pets out of farm animals. She is survived by three two sons and a daughter Danny K. Mace, Myton; Donna (Max) Sli Ison, Myton; Dennis (Amy) Mace, Roosevelt; two stepchildren: Richard Mace, Roosevelt and Angie Starkey, Vernal; 12 grandchildren; and a sister. Lusty Our loving Mother and Grandmother Ada M. Lusty passed away peacefully in Roosevelt on December 10.2000.She was bora to Angel Carlos Maggiolo and Mara Walt her on May 25, 1919, in Montevideo, Uruguay. After a courtship by mail she came to tbs United States and married her sweetheart, Clark W. Lusty, on August 6, 1959, in the Logan LDS Temple. Ada was one of the first member ofthe LDS Qiurch in Uruguay where she served a full time mission and several local missions. She had great faith and used her talents in helping others. She took gnat joy in being a mother and sharing in her children's lives. She loved having an active church life and fulfilled manycallings including two missions with her husband in Texas. She is survived br three daughters, Alicia (David) Evans, Arcadia, Utah, Jeanette (Joseph) Uribe, Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Jean (Ivan) Kudlacek. Whittier, CA., and five grandchildren, Randall.
