He remembers the struggles his family was faced with during his formative years, there was hard work, little pay, no water in the house, or central heat and an outside toilet Ray taught Lynn to be honest to arrive on time, siblings, all girts. Her parents divorced when she was young, Olive remarried, James Jesse Miller from Springville, a construction foreman with ten children. The couple and their combined family resided in Springville three years, then moved to Roosevelt and purchased OIL FIELD SERVICES RO. She graduated from Roosevelt High in May of 1 942 just as all the young men she had grew up with left to fight in World War II. Lynn was one of those fellahs she knew since the first grade at Ballard Grade School. After he graduated from Alterra High he signed up with the army. Lynn trained in Texas at the Camp Walter Infantry Training Center. After his six month training was over he was kept on for an additional six months as a personnel trainer, then was shipped off to the South Pacific where he joined the 25th Infantry Division. While fighting in Luzon the men were pulled off the front lines for a rest and the atomic bomb was dropped, prompting Japan to surrender. On April 7, 1946 Lynn and Miriam married. He was working for Labrum Aluminum Metal Buildings and Miriam Labrum, Roosevelt Grand , business he named Lynn's Conoco. It was the begin-- . ning of his career in automobile service, that evolved into ownership of a Ford dealership. and Miriam raised four children and did all they could to be good citizens and contribute to Lynn their community. Miriam became active in civic dubs, Lynn as a volunteer fire fighter. He served on the Roosevelt City Council and in 1 970 oversaw the dtys community golf course construction. Now retired, Lynn and Miriam have a little extra time on their hands, which they use to watch over their children and grandchildren and enjoy hobbies such as trap shooting and golf.
