Poulson As a Duchesne resident of the Uintah Basin for the , past 60 years, llean Poulson, recently selected as a Duchesne County Fair Parade Grand Marshal said, Communities, states and a nations growth and welfare depends upon the service each one of us gives as citizens, Duchesne County is a fine place and I have appreciated the happiness of living here." Ilean moved to the Basin in July on 1940, worked as a child welfare worker in the Duchesne County Welfare Department for a short time, then met and . married the late Kermit Poulson on September 9, 1941 intheLDSManti Temple. Together, they raised four sons and three daughters and a Navaho foster daughter through the Indian Placement Program. Kermit passed away Jan. 1978. Ilean is best known for her work as librarianmedia Coordinator tor Duchesne High School from 1 960 to 1 982. The work was a joy to her she said, noting, 1 thoroughly enjoyed working with the faculty, students and the community. Ilean was bom in Centerfield, Utah, one of five daughters bom to Charles S. and Alvira Westover Hansen. She recalls years of drought that affected their family farm production of sugar ,' . i beets, grain and alfalfa just at the time foe Great Depression had settled over America. . "We always had the necessities of life because of foe wise and frugal practices of my parents, Ilean said, noting that she has lived long enough to experience foe changes jn transportation from foe horse and buggy to air travel. She has prepared several books on the history of her family as well as Kermits ancestors. She also enjoys spending time Ilean with her friends, new people she meets, good books and gardening. Today, Deans vision for foe future of Duchesne County includes, an "ever increasing cooperation among all areas of our county, with foe goal of accomplishing foe growth and welfare of all of foe citizens throughout our entire area.
