Show ennium With Pride" uiuuiuuiuiuaiiiniiiBuiDiiioiiiBiiipn Carol Wright knows the difference between prizewinning picklesnd regular old pickles because she has served as a judge over food exhibits at many county fairs and 4--h exhibits, which is just one of the ways she feels connected to the Duchesne County Fair. The other, is her recent invitation to serve as Grand Marshal of the Fair, representing the Duchesne area. Carol's roots go down deep into Uintah Basin soil soil that she is very - familiar with, after all shes spent her entire life here. Bom to Malcolm and Hazel Walters, Carol remembers working with a team of horses behind the plow on their small 40 acre farm. . She was raised during the Depression. Her family never owned modem farm machinery. They made it through those tough times with a few dairy cows and by seeking what ever meager employment was available. Though the Walters family never experienced Carol Wright values of compassion and service, to love her neigh- bors and to cultivate peace and harmony in the home, Carol went to school in Myton until she reached the 9th grade, then due to health problems, withdrew, studying at home for ne&'ty two school years before enrolling as a junior at Roosevelt High. After graduating she attended Carbon College in Price. She married the late Leland Wright June 4, 1 947 in the Salt Lake Temple. She appreciated his work ethic, integrity and love and devotion to his family, friends and associates. Leland worked as Duchesne County trea- years of marriage, Carol worked in the Duchesne County Extern sion office for 23 years, where she became involved with county fairs, 4--H programs and livestock shows. One of Carol's greatest pleasures in life is working to make an abundant garden and beautiful yard. She also enjoys cooking, especially making baked goods. "Living on alarm didnt give me much chance to serve the community except to share with my friends ... this makes better people out of all of us," Carol said, adding that Duchesne County is a surer then served as District great place to live and she plans to just "go on with life Agriculture representative 1 and enjoy it" for the state of Utah for 9 years for the As wed, Leland and Carol were ranchers, raising Semmintal cattle on 200 acres of farm land and raised three children.
