Team Two battled their way to the Championship Game by defeating Team Eight, coached by Brad Hancock. 67 to 38. "The Other Guys," coached by David Gumudo and Bart Morrill, defended their 14--1 7 ft 8 grade Jr. Jazs Championship of last year, with a perfect 134) record this year. The team, with only two returning players from the previous season , (Aaron Gumudo and Shane Morrill) consisted of six new team members in Tracy Gardner, Harley Hayes, Travis Martinet, Andre Nephi. Greg Warren and Vincent Wilkenon. Players are picked every year in draft held prior to season league play. After the game. Coach Gumudo praised the Jr. Jazs program saying. "This Jr. Jazz league has been extremely competitive. Every team was talented and well coached, making each game an es citing one that could go either way. Randy Quarei has done a great job coordinating the league again this year. The overall team parity and good sportsmanship displayed by players and coaches alike testify of the great job Randy has done to give the young men of our community the chance to de-- . velop their skills and to play balL ,This Championship didnt come easy. When asked why his team was successful, Coach Gumucio responded, "Each player had s heart felt desire to play tough defense and to assist other team members in scoring by esecutmg the offensive schemes they had practiced. These young men were unselfish and realized the necessity and value of each player on their team. As a result, they complemented each other1well and erjqyed playing together. am very proud of these guys. They came to each practice and game, week after week, mentally prepared to play fundamentally sound basketball and to do so as s cohesive team. Each young man worked hard to develop his talents to help the team. They really have accomplished a lot this year!" Randy Quare praised each team in the league by saying, "Each team brought a unique style of basketball to the floor this year. Talent was well distributed, and each team played with intensity and good sportsmanship. I was very proud of each player that participated You could see them grow and develop as the season progressed. I also want to thank the volunteer coaches for their support of this program.
