"I think my dad is a great teacher, he lectures a lot, but its so much fun," she said. Candace remarked that one of the hardest clssses, an English literature course, ironically was taught by her grandmother, Donna Burton. "Grandma made us write five papers in five weeks," she explains. One difficult aspect of being a teenager in a senior college class was not haring the life experience the older students had simply from being around longer. "I had the book learning, but not the life experience she reflects. "I found that to sometimes be a problem." As the end ofeach semester drew near and shed find herself with seven term papers and eight finals to complete, shed sometimes wonder why she was doing this. But after all the tests were taken and. papers turned in she felt great "It is so relieving when everything's done," she says. Td feel like I was walking on clouds with nothing to worry about Then shed catch up on her sleep. Her parents were supportive of her, she remarked, but sometimes worried if she was pushing herself too hard. "At first they thought I was trying to do too much," she disclosed. In addition to Candace's father and grandmother being instructors, her grandfather, Jack Barton, teaches history at Altamont High. Her grandmother teaches at Altamont High as well as at USU. Three other children round out the Barton family. The eldest, William, is currently serving an LDS mission in Baltimore, MD. A sister, Angel, graduated from high school last year with Candaccand took many of the USU Snow packs across the Uintah Basin and North Slope are above average at 129 as of May 1999, up 52 relative to last month. The North Slope ranges from 78 to 387 and the Uintah Basin from 0 to 132 of average. April was cool and very wet, increasing snow-pac- k when they are typically melting.
