Sea Scrolls premieres Sunday, Jan. 24, at 8 p.m. on channel 11. The more than 800 manuscripts found in the caves of Qumran contain the entire Hebrew bible (except the book of Esther), as well aa ancient views on a temple that would be restored to Israel, the final war between the Sons of Light and the Sons of Darkness, and rules that should govern community life. Researchers the world over have spent fifty years trying to piece together the scrolls, aa well aa tens of thousands of fragments, in an effort to ur KBYU-Televiai- understand their meaning and to gain insight into both Judaism and Christianity. The documentary, produced by KBYUa Sterling Von Wagenen and directed by Curtis Briggs, explores the history of the scrolls and provides significant insight into the contributions BYU faculty are making to scrolls research.
