Show V I I UINTAH BASIN STANDARD. February 3. WK 1 Grinds Gee - 738-26- Christine Nation of Bridgeland a grandson Nathan and Jean Scott and their little boy move into our Bridgeland Ward. Emmett and Dorothy Evans of Duchesne took a bus load of boys up to Grace ID to a wrestling tournament. On their way a deer run into their bus and wrecked the radiator and really tore things up. They were late getting to things and they made it home at 3 a.m. in the morning, but the boys won the wrestling bout. Florence Smith has been down in the hospital in Roosevelt for several days. The Harold Gees stopped in to see her Tuesday. She had already been released. Florences daughter said that she had had a very bad kidney infection and she had to stay with a friend in Roosevelt for a few days to go to the hospital every day for a few days to haa had have an antibiotic. She got back home on Saturday afternoon. There will be Bingo now on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Gateway Center. 'Hie Bridgeland church will now start at 10:30 on Sunday for Sacrament meeting and run til 1:30 p.m. The Lloyd and Pam Atkinsens of Lehi were out to our Bridgeland Ward on Sunday, Jan. 25. They brought their daughter Loni out for her to report her mission report. The Harold Gee's were over to see Ada Lusty on Tuesday of last week. She was not home. Huegh Evans came and said that David and Alicia Evans had gone into Colorado on business with another couple. They had taken Ada over to Vernal to spend the day with her sister-in-laLois Horrocks. She was to be home the next day. The Harold Gees had to be in Heber on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. to keep a doctors appointment. Pauline Herrer's daughter Carmen Michels was to leave to fly back home to Virginia on Monday, Jan. 26. Her husband Ron is going to spend some time here and in Salt Lake for a while. Connie Jess, Lena Thomas left Duchesne on Thursday after the Senior Dinner to drive Connies girl friend back to Glenwood New Mexico. They plan to come back home on Sunday. Jennie Merkley came home from the Utah Valley hospital on Saturday afternoon. Her two daughters brought her home. Jennie had her right hip replaced. Dustin Marett son of Roger and Dawna Marettiva home frofflProVo for over the weekend. The daughters of Pioneers meeting for Jan. was held on Monday Jan. 19. At our DUP building in Duchesne at 1 p.m. The two hostesses were Alice Halliday and Pat Engle. The lesson was given by Cindy Bruton on The early settlers of Rich County. There was an insulation of officers. There were 4 ladies that came from Roosevelt, Larene Duncan, President; Thelma McKenna St. Vick; Larene Laris, 2nd Vic; and Norma Denver Sec. Treasurer. They put in the Daughters of Pioneers in the Duchesne camp in the Theodore Camp; Pat Engle, Captian, 1st Vice; Captain Maij Croft, 2nd Vic; Captain Jolene Farnsworth, Alice Halliday, Sec. Treasurer. There were 16 members present We had a couple ofvisitors Fred and Sharen Morrison of Bridgeland. during this past week. They will go home Saturday Jan. 31. Lois Goodrich spent Thursday and Friday, jan. 22 - 23 in Salt Lake City where die witnessed the wedding of Grandson, Michael Goodrich to Heather Johnson in the Salt Lake Temple and attended the reception that evening. Michael is the youngest son of Jay and Carolyn Goodrich end represents the last of that family to be married. While in Salt Lake City, Lois Goodrich called former Bluebell resident Lorraine Robinson to visit with her. Dean and Marlene Roberts took a weeks vacation to visit all their children on the Wasatch Front. Their first stop was at the Roxanne and Alan Pollmanns home in Salt Lake City. From there they traveled to Hooper to Ster and Mels new home which they are busy in finishing the building. Tuesday they met Sharon in Pocatello then traveled on to attend the Idaho Falls Temple. They got to see Trina and Natalie, college students, that evening. On Wednesday they went to Brent and Kim's home in Providence. They were able to take a side trip to the Logan Airport to see Brents new business venture, Utah Jet Center where he buys and jet planes. Thursday, Jan. 22, they spent the morning with Greg, Laura, Angie and Austin in Logan. That night was spent with Kathy and Klay Groll in Tremonton. Marlene reports their trip home to Bluebell Friday was uneventful as they were fortunate to miss any snow storms as they progressed through their marathon of visits to their children. Calvin Roberts took Margo to the Salt Lake airport Sunday, Jan. 25 where she took a flight to Denver, Colorado where she will spend a week dealing with job training in connection with her new job assignment with the Fish and Wildlife Department Calvin continued on to Tremonton where the rest of the family met in the late afternoon to view the Super Bowl game. ser-vic- es Competitors win titles at dart tourney Recently the Medalist Regional FallWinter Dart Finals were held at Cassidy's Club and Howdys Hilltop Tavern near Roosevelt. She was the daughter of early Bluebell pioneers, William Porter and Mary S. Merrell. She was born March 17 in Vernal. She had 10 children, seven of whom survive her, 52 grandchildren, 107 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren. Memorial services were held Jan. 29 in the Davis lst4th Ward chapel. Michael Adams, son of Dean and Reva Adams has accepted employment with the new Day's store in Heber City in the meat cutting department. He will begin his duties officially on Feb. 16 with the opening of the Day's new facilities. Edith Elwena Vanderhoop Liddell ivm-munit- Thora Clark Liddell, age 85, of died Jan. 30, 1998 at home after a long illness. She was bom March 24, 1912 in Altonah to Jeremiah Hatch and Eliza Timothy Clark. She married Clarence D. Liddell March 23, 1932 in Duchesne; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple March Roosevelt, 20, 1939. After their marriage, they hornsteaded on the South Myton bench. Thora worked in the school lunch program. She was manager of school lunch at Union High School when it opened in 1952 anemia ter at the Roosevelt Elementary School. She and Clarence operated a commissary and boarding house for American Gilsonite Company in Bonanza for many years. She and Clarence also served in the Provo LDS Temple for 5 years. Thora is well known for her hand work and fair judging. She made lovely quilts, afghans and ceramics. For some 20 years she and her friend Zelma Lloyd were called on to judge hand work and crafts and fairs around the state.
