The Central Utah Water Conservancy District announces that the construction ofa new water storage reservoir has been completed and it is now in service. The reservoir, which is located on the bench near Starvation Dam, stores finished water from the Duchesne Valley Water Treatment Plant, which is then delivered as drinking water to area residents. The reservoir is a buried reinforced concrete structure with the concrete roof slab supported on columns. This 26 feet by 116 feet diameter reservoir was constructed by the Central Utah Water Conservancy District as a District facility to. benefit the residents in the Duchesne area at a cost of $1,047, 000.00. Funds for this project are from the District capital project fund, which originate from ad valorem taxes of residents of the District The contractor, Dale Cox Contracting Inc. Manti, Utah, began construction last April, and completed the prqject in just over six months. The prqject engineer was Thompson-HyseEngineers, Inc., from Murray, Utah. With the completion of this storage reservoir, there is now capacity of 4 million gallons per day. David Pitcher, chief engineer for Central Utah Water Conservancy District stated that this reservoir provides equalization storage for Central Utah Prqject Water pumped from Starvation Reservoir, and its construction was vital to assure an adequate and reliable drinking water supply for area residents.
