Show Pace s 4. 1996 12 - June Education Uintah Basin Standard GRADUATES-T- hc Uintah Applied Technology Center held their Graduation ceremonies Friday, May 31. Twenty students from the Roosevelt area received their business certificates. They include: Anthony Appawoo, Sherron Clark, RaAnn Clegg, Ryan Curry, Misty Dahlbcrg, JoDccne Edrington, Luci Flores, Kalccia Fbwlcr, Antonia Garcia, Christina Horrocks, Susan Johnson, Annette Mathison, Carotin McKee, Nancy Micurc, Judy Phelps, Chclli Ross, and Jerry Wilson. Secondary students from Union High School who obtained their business certificates through he UBATC were: Cindy Brighton, Danielle LaRose, and Elizabeth Murdock. CON AMORE CUBS Special Olympians from Con Amorc successfully competed in tract and field and soccer events at Uintah High School. Con Amore athletes Retiring After 27 Years Duncan leaves her legacy of love with Neola Elementary compete in games Con Amore Cubs Special Olympians recently attended area games at Uintah High School. Con Amore staff greatly appreciates all the support from sponsors, volunteers and especially parents. The athletes participated in track and field events and soccer skills. Amanda Lewis: 4th in 100 meter, 2nd in 200 meter, 2nd standing long jump, tennis ball throw, 3rd in soccer Bonnie Duncan has cared for the children of Neola Elementary School for a long time. She is retiring aficr 27 years of loving service to the children, teachers, and patrons. In her kind gentle way she has expected excellence from students and staff alike and they' have responded. It was with tears of gratitude and sadness that the Parent Teacher Organization, Neola Elementary staff, Duchesne County School and the community District, honored Bonnie last Tuesday night. Former principals, students and teachers were in attendance to honor her with song, words of tribute or a hug. Dennis Manning, principal of Neola Elementary School, praised Bonnie saying, "No mother could have watched over the children of Neola Elementary better. She was a nurse giving out hugs and bandaids, along with soothing words and an ice pack. Sometimes Bonnie would pick up students that missed a bus or lake them home at night for the 'same reason. No one was belter at ,trackingdown children that were lost or playing hooky. "She counseled everyone from the distraught student, to the teacher on social depressed behavior and moral principles. She has always greeted everyone with a smile and a pleasant word." The Neola Parent Teacher Organization, under the direction of President Kathy Goodin, presented Bonnie with 27 roses for her 27 years of service. Students sang a skills. Utah's scenic beauty in its mountains, valleys, canyons, lakes and streams was described in the song "This Is the Place." Mrs. Brothersons fourth grade has established a tradition of producing a "Utah" quilt to be raffled off and the money given to a good cause. This years quilt is d exceptionally beautiful, with scenes of all Utah counties. Local artist Naomi Fisher painted the lovely border scenes. He has worked with the Institute of Bio Medical Engineering, in the Artificial Heart Laboratory, and plans to continue his studies in Radiology. Snow College graduation Snow College is busily preparing for its 108lh commencement exercises to be held this year on June 7th and 8th in the Activity Center.
