Ruth visited her aunt, Neln, and Mike Alison. Minori Eto investigated the college. They stayed overnight in Manti with Lyn and Joann Ilaslem. Randy Nelson and his father, Max, went to Salt Lake Tuesday because Max had a doctor appointment They had dinner with Ina Shaw before going onto Clinton, Ogden and Morgan where they did a Santa run to the other sons and their families. They stopped in Heber for a short visit with Eric and Linda Nelson. Bob and Penny Shaw attended the Christmas party for Chevron Saturday night in Vernal at the Western Park. The had dinner and a dance. Penny Shaw and Carolyn Woodward went to Provo Thursday on the temple bus. Dean and Remo Hamblin and daughter, Carolyn, went to Provo last week. They stayed the night in Sandy with her sister, Katie, and Dan Platte. They visited grandson, Kevin, in Sandy also. Neighbors and friends send condolences to the families of Barbra Hamblin and Joyce Powell for the death of their father, Heniy Pfitzer, who passed away December 2 in Salt Lake. Barbra and Delmar Hamblin, Shane and Sherunette Hamblin and children, Gardell and Joyce Powell and Gwena Smith drove to Salt Lake to attend the funeral service December 6 in the Salt Lake City 10th Ward. A1 of the families college students from Logan, Weber and Snow were able to attend the service also. Harry and Fontella Tomlinson received word of the dentil of a cousin, Don Gacox, in Gypsum, Colorado December 2. The Tomlinsons went to Vernal and picked up their son, Brownie, on the way to Gypsum. They spent the night with the Gaxoc family. They attended the funeral services in Gypsum There was a wedding reception held at the Senior Citizen Center in Roosevelt December 6 for Lisa Freston and Gilbert Evans II. There wns a large crowd there. Guests were treated to a barbecue dinner from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Kipp and Helen Merkley had their dnughter, Debbie, and her fnmily with them over Thanksgiving later that same day. Holiday company at the home of Jim and Marilyn Steinmetz for Thanksgiving were son, Scott, and Karen Steinmetz; daughter, LaRoe and girls, Logan; Blaine and Ala Steinmetz and son and friends; and Duane Davis and family, Snlt Lake. Fontella and Harry Tomlinson attended a birthday party in Vernal Sunday, December 8, honoring granddaughter, Colleen Kynaston, daughter of Charlotte and Gib Kynaston. On Sunday they attended the missionary homecoming of Dorothys nephew, Robert Weeks. After the homecoming they hnd a large family dinner. Steve Merkley and his four children, Suit Lake, came out on Wednesday and spent Tlinnksgiving with his parents, Kipp and Helen Merkley. Linda Stone nnd family, West Valley, and Jana Sweat and family, Heber, spent Thanksgiving with their mother, Jennie Merkley. He died where he was happiest, in Rock Creek, Utah, . December 9. He married Barbara Ellen Burdick in Heber on December 12, 1946. He was a member of the Army 101st Airborne Division, and he served in Europe during World War II. Friendships that Btarted then, continued through a lifetime and are a tribute to him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, packing and being outdoors, but most important to him was sharing those tilings with family and friends. He was active in the American Legion Duchesne Post 22 and regularly recruited new and inactive members. He was a regular member of the Color Guard, always carried the American flag and was a participant in all veteran services. He was a natural entertainer, and people loved being with him. He set a standard for relationships that many have strived for, few achieve. He is survived by his wife, Duchesne; Candyce Meriwether, Heber, Melanie Meriwether, Albuquerque; Laurie Meriwether and Paige Meriwether, Salt Lake; brother, Marvin, Murray; sister, Ruby MacMillan, Morgan. 1, free. While there Af had eye surgery and Viola kept a doctor appointment. Mr. and Mrs. Lee WagstafT went to Provo Tuesday where Lee kept a doctor appointment. Mr. and Mrs. Max Giles, Salt Lake, spent the weekend visiting Maxine Penrod and Hazel Defa. Those from Hanna and Tabiona who attended the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Defa, Mr. and Mrs. Luke Defa, Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Giles and Kim and Brent, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Giles, and Mr. and Mrs. Sandy Hoffman. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Thomas and Jan Rhoades went to Salt Lake Wednesday to go with Travis Stewart and Tanya Thomas to get their temple endowments. While in Salt Luke they did some shopping and visited some relatives. Mr. and Mrs. John Miller and son, of Heber, spent a few days in Tabiona visiting Mr. and Mrs. Charley Strebell.
