Laurel Bjornberg, a former Fort Duchesne resident, celebrated her 36th birthday, October 18 by receiving a liver transplant Bjomberg, who lives in Provo, was informed that a liver was available and two hours later the same day. she began a 12 hour operation in a Salt Lake City hospital. The operation went well and Bhe iB now home with her family. The liver transplant that Bjornberg needed to live took place five weeks after the necessary $125,000 was raised for her surgery by donations from Uintah Basin, Utah County and other citizens. "Id like to thank everyone who contributed to save my life and giving me more time with my family," she said. "I had been hoping to receive it before this birthday." There were no complications through the surgery, according to her husband, Steve. She is now planning to play volleyball and softball in the spring. Bjornberg is no longer restricted to a diet of fruits and vegetables. One y medication supply for Bjornberg costs $212 a box. The Laurel Bjornberg Transplant Fund Committee continues to ask for donations to help pay for follow-uvisits, tests and drugs. Meagher, Englewood, Colorado, in the amount of $30,600 for a 720 acre parcel located in Uintah County, and a bid from YateB Petroleum, Artesia, New Mexico, in the amount of $30,419 for a 1,600 acre parcel located in San Juan County. The Young Ambassadors have long been BYITS most prestigious performing group, traveling to locations ns diverse as Kansas and Russia. They offer a clean, crisp sound and lively choreography while singing a variety of contemporary and original music.
