Tomlinsons celebrate 50 years of marriage Fontella and Harry Tomlinson will be celebrating their SOth wedding anniversary August 24. Harry and Fontella were married August 24, 1941 in Vernal. They owned a ranch on Willow Creek, in the Book Cliff area, for 23 years. In 1964 they sold this ranch and moved to a smaller ranch in the Montwell area where they still reside. and Linda Christensen from Tremonton the are pleased to announce marriage of their daughter, Karen, to Scott Steinmetz, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Steinmetz. Tin couple will be married on August 23, 1991 in the Logan Temple. A reception will be held in their honor that evening from p.m. in the Bowcutt Reception Center in Treemonton, Utah. An Open House will be held September 7, 1991 from p.m. at the Roosevelt Institute Building. Scott is a 1982 graduate of Union High School and LDS Seminary. He served an LDS mission in the Seattle Washington mission. Scott received his bachelors degree in psychology from Utah State University in June 1991. He is presently working for Bear River Mental Health in Logan. Karen is a 1988 of Bear River High School and LDS Semiattended Bridgerland Vocational Technical Center and is She nary. now working for Saddleman Inc. in Logan. The couple will be making their home in logan, Utah, where Scott will be working on his Masters at U.S.U. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Doerr wins the Utah Country Showdown The Utah state title in the tenth anniversary edition of the True Value IlardwareGMC Truck Country Showdown has gone to Dorothy Doerr, representing radio station KNKK in Ogden. Doerr bested five other competitors in a contest held Saturday, August 10, at the Uintah County Fair in Vernal. Doerr was awarded $1,000 in prize money and will now advance to the regional competition. Waiting in the wings is the national final and a Grand Prize of $50,000, a 1992 Sierra pickup from GMC Truck and a recording contract The worlds largest country music talent contest and radio promotion, the Showdown is featuring over 1,000 live events in 1991, reaching over 4 million country music fans. Beginning in February and continuing through late summer, thousands of aspiring artists will showcase their talent in state level contests that also feature concerts by leading stars of country music. Entertaining Showdown fans in Vernal was country star Eddy Raven. State winners compete in one of six regional contests, the results of which determine who will travel expense paid to Nashville, Tennessee, to compete in the national final, televised from the stage of the legendary Grand Ole Opiy. Grandmother Effie Taylor Ames. is Utah Health Care honors Donna and Verlynn Stewart Utah Health Cara Association, a it trade and service organization serving the long term health care industry as well as the consumer public, recently announced the choice of Donna and Verlynn Stewart as recipients of the UHCA "Distinguished Service Award". This award is bestowed upon those in the long term care industry who have demonstrated exceptional ongoing commitment to the goals of the Utah Health Cara Association and to their communities. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart have been chosen because of their commitment to and understanding of the long term care profession and the challenges it faces, while fostering the highest professional ideals. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart started the first long term care facility in non-prof- Bus.: Res.: Diego area for 21 years and have served in various church callings. Mrs. Ross has been a Primary and Sunday School teacher. Mr. Ross served as a bishop twice, first in Springfield, Oregon, and then in San Diego. He served on the stake high council. They both served as ordinance workers in the Los Angeles Temple. mission They served a full-tim- e October. Their current facility, Stewarts Cedar Crest Convalescent Center, was built in 1966. They decided upon long term care initially because Mrs. Stewarts mother was in a facility, and Donna was not happy with the care she was receiving. The Stewarts have "retired" two times, but always seem to come back to the profession they love. Mrs. Stewart, who is an LPN, serves as the licensed Administrator of the facility, while Mr. Stewart tends to the beautiful grounds. Donna and Verlynn are the proud parents of two daughters, Tammy and Debbie, and grandparents to ten. They will receive plaques denoting their honor at the UHCA Annual Convention and Exposition, which will be held at the Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City on 1991.
