Church News Missionary Baptist Church The Vernal Landmark Missionary Baptist Church again held services on November 19, 1987. The Services were held in the basement of the old Baptist Church in Roosevelt 14 were present to study and sing. It has been decided by the Hotsprings Missionary Baptist Church in Arkansas to support a mission in Roosevelt We of the work in Roosevelt are excited about the future. We hope to have a full time Pastor sometime around the first of the year. Also we hope to get a building bought to hold our services in. Ladie's Aide quilters are busy at the church each Tuesday and invite you to join them. The session meeting on Tuesday evening will be used to complete budget preparations for the coming year. We have also had word that the Women's Association of the Presbyterian Church has offered support and sent forms to be completed. Pastor Glenn and Jovita will be hold an Open House and Thanksgiving dinner from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Thanksgiving Day at the parsonage. If you will be alone for the holiday or do not have a turkey and all the trimmings, please plan to spend this time with the Thomsons. On Sunday, November 29, the first Sunday in Advent, a special Advent service will be held at the church at 6:30 pm. Pastor Glenn took a few moments to present Iris with a teacher's pin in recognition of the great service she performs as a Sunday School teacher. The sermon was Getting Involved with the World." Pastor Glenn said that the Kingdon of God can be defined as God's rule in our hearts. We receive so much from God, and it is important that we return to him a portion of what these gifts. We can do this by reaching out to others and giving time for prayer and involvement with others, as well as sharing the treasure with which we have been provided. To do these things In his Name, we must reach out into the world and those who so need to come to a knowledge of God and his goodness. Prayers of thanksgiving were given for healing which has taken place andor is still taking place. Many prayers were said in petition for healing, for strength, for safety. It was learned last week that a good friend of our little church will be leaving Utah in the near future. After an eagle ceremony put on by the Order of the Arrow, District Representative Wayne Lee presented the At award to Eienjamin, the son of Ray and Jackie Jordan. For his eagle project Benjamin with the help of his troop, repaired and stained the picnic tables at the Ballard City Building. During the past month the Heritage and Photography Clubs 4-- have been requesting suggestions a name for the Old City Jail that has been restored for a museum. Many suggestions were given, the council members selected these following: Ralph Ivie Museum, for .Prehistoric Museum, Park Side Museum, Myton City History Museum, Myton Memories Museum, Myton Memory Iane, and Myton city Museum.. .The Council had a hard time deciding and they suggested that residents stop in the City office and cast their vote for their choice. They will make a final decision the first meeting in December.
