November 4, 1987 HJJintah UBasin Standard Singles Conference open to all singles The Altamont Stake Singles Conference is open to all singles in the area, and those from stakes other than Altamont are welcome. The conference will he held Saturday, November 14 at the Altamont Stake Center, and will include workshops, games, visiting, lunch and dinner, and a special fireside that evening. Vte-&r)Y- j ' . After a light conference lunch, conference goers will be able to relax with some volleyball and table games, or browse at the Christmas Fair Across the street Evening activities will begin with dinner at 6:00 pm and a fireside at 7:30 pm, with a mingle to follow. Cost for the conference is $9.00 which will include both meals. Tyler Olsen of. took Second in Olsen Duchesne, son of Tina and Gayln the Baby Pbgeant and Diaper Derby in Salt Lake City s. for their sponsored by the YMCA as a fund-raise- r SUPREME PRINCE IN DUCHESNE pro-gram- Local boy is Prince Tyler Olsen of Duchesne was in the Salt Lake City Baby Pageant and Diaper Derby, conducted as a fund raiser by die YMCA. The Coronation was held on October 81, 1987. Tyler won Supreme Prince which was the second biggest trophy in the whole show. Tyler is 17 months old and was competing against buys ranging in age from 15 months to six years of age. There were five Supreme. Trophies for boys and five girls. Tyler also received 99 13 percent in beauty Annette Lewis and Scott Hepner have announced their engagement and plan to be married in the Salt Lake Temple in January. She is a 1982 graduate 'of Duchesne High School and he is a 198.1 graduate of Skyview High School. Lewis and Hepner to be married Mr. and Mrs. Glen L. Lewis of Duchesne are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Annette to Mr. Scott G. Hepner. Scott is the son oi Mr. Glen L. Hepner of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Mrs. Edith Smith of Hadlock, Washington. Annette is a 1982 graduate of Duchesne High School and has also graduated from Snow College. She is' currently working ' in Logan, Utah. Scott is a 1981 graduate of Skyview High. He has served an LDS Mission in Dearborn, Michigan and is planning to attend Utah Valley Community College in Orem' in the spring. The Wedding is planned for January in the Salt Lake Temple. Booths available for Christmas fair There are still available for the annual Unuer a few booths Country Christmas Fair, and organizers would encourage people outside the Upper Country area to rent space there. The fair will be held Saturday, November 14 from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm at the Altamont Elementary. Organizers say there are a number of booths reserved, selling everything from country items, to and many kinds of food. So visitors will be able to purchase a variety of lunch items handicrafts, while they browse. Those wishing to rent sales booths can contact Norita Tidwell at or Helen Mitchell at Booth rental is $15.00 and must be prepaid. 454-S37- 454-326- Besides the booths rented by those wishing to sell handmade items, the Upper Country Book Committee will have several booths, including food, gifts, and white elephants. InC.y-Sar- Local resident gets Guide dog Cherie and her husband, Steve live on a 230 acre ranch where they raise many animals. Besides their Roosevelt resident Mrs. Cheri Robbins is adding a new member to her circle of family and friends. Cheri is enrolled at Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc., in San Rafael, California, where she is learning to use a Guide Guide Dog. two Tabby cats, "Lenny" and Spanky, they also have two dogs, seven Appaloosa, Arabian and Quarter horses, and a number of chickens. Cheri is a board member of the Uintah Basin Association for the Handicapped and a member of the National Federation of the Cheri was introduced to Frodo," a Golden Retriever, at the start of a month-loncourse at the Guide Dog center. She and her 23 classmates are set to graduate on Satuday, November 7, at informal public ceremonies at the center's campus. Blind. Although it costs Guide Dogs for the Blind about $10,000 to devlop, train and maintain just one Guide person unit, there is never any charge to the blind for the center's services. The program is funded entirely by donations and received no government support of Dog-blin-d The training of Utah residents is sponsored by the charitable efforts of the Utah Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.).
