Land Bale Dale Gines, Jay Lazenby, and Lawrence and Scott Maxwell met with the Commissioners to resolve the issue of the approximately two (2) acre lot owned by Arab Associates in the Tabiona area. The County Attorney explained that the parcel has been pulled from the sale because both Mr. Gines and Mr. Maxwell were considered adjoining property owners and both wanted to bid on the property. He also said that if the matter could not be resolved in this meeting that since it was taken from the May Sale to be decided by these two men in the Commission meeting that it would have to be held until the 1988 May Sale. Mr Maxwell then made an offer which was that he would be willing to pay the taxes, interest, and penalties due; give the New Tabby Canal Company an easement for the canalrelining project and that he would keep the property. Mr. Maxwell told the Commissioners that he had contacted the major stockholders in the Canal company to try to resolve the matter of the easement before coming to the meeting. The Commissioners then gave Mr. Gines an opportunity to make an offer. He said that he would accept Mr. Maxwells offer if Mr. Maxwell would sign easements on other pieces of property that he controls that the canal needs to cross also. The County Attorney expressed at that time that the County could not be involved in the negotiation on the canal easements. Only the parcel involved in the May Tax Sale could be involved in the discussion. Mr. Maxwell then made his offer a second time, that he would guarantee to give the canal company an easement if he was allowed to pay the taxes, interest, and penalties and keep to parcel which had previously been owned by Arab Associates.
