Show Pow Wow Thursday, July 5 11 Continued from page 10 BLACK GOLD Engineering Department has taken strides in this area and came up with a liquification procesa that is a demonstrated step ahead of the three major advanced processes. The current process in this area are entitled Exxon procesa, the procesa and the Gull SRC-I- I process. These three take 20 minutes to 1 hour of heating the coal to form one step of the procesa. The U of U team has demonstrated a process that takes 20 seconds to one minute of heating the coal in this same step. Wiser has just submitted a proposal for funding from the Department of Energy to demonstrate a theoretical process that would reduce that heating time down to a second or two. This latest stride would still provide percent of the coals weight to be liquified. But with the political factors and the funding cuts m the Fossil Energy Division of the Department of Energy they will be able to fund about eight proposals and some 160 to 200 proposals are expected the U of U team is just 60-6- 0 waiting.
