Sun worshippers stretch out at the lake or at the Swimming pool for hours seeking bronzed bodies which they believe symbolizes attractiveness youth and fitness. Moist have heard that spending too much time in the sun without adquate protection is harmful. Excessive exposure over the yean will result in sagging, aging skin, increased frequency of skin Miwr and occasionally death, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. But today, the sun ia no longer needed. Now, one can easily go down to a focal tanning bed or tanning hut and gradually work their way to a glorious tan. Though a sun bather views a tan as a symbol of good health, physicians consider tanning a response to injury. Sines overexposure to the sun is considered harmful, the question arises to whether theee new methods of fanning are safe. The tanning hut is advertised as befog dermatologist approved, however, three Salt Lake dermatologists disagree that any tanning system is completely safe. Dr. Dee Rasmussen said that most of theee systems advertise the safety of tne ultra Violet A light (UvA) rather than the ultra violet B (UVB). The UVB are the burning rays of the ran. But to get a tan, you need the UVB even if it is in smell amounts. If anything is strong enough to tan, it will eventually have the ame advene effects as the sun, Rasmussen stated. Dr. Muk Taylor said that if these systems can overused, cause damage as weu aa the sun. Taylor did say that tanning is a protective system in the body i ..
