Show OJJimtah Gardner Vital statistics released for 1981 The image outsider! have of Utah has come a long way in the last 12 years, but tremendous misconceptions still exist. That's the conclusion of a just completed survey compiled by Utah State University's Institute for Outdoor Recreation and Tourism. The major change comes in the perception of Utah's people, which were considered to be MAmish"-typ- e pioneers a dozen years ago. The new survey shows that Utah residents are considered business types" or sophisticated" to a much greater degree than Reunion . n Stewarts Colorado. Other findings in the study: More than half of those, surveyed have traveled to or through Utah; Perception of our hunting and fishing opportunities as well as impressiveness of national forests rank lowest among the states of Colorado, Wyoming and Utah; Perception of our liquor laws is overwhelmingly restrictive as compared to the other states; Perception of our cities as impressive" is very high compared to Wyoming am)f Montana and nearly equal to Colorado. and Montana. The study compares the Image" and desirability of Utah as a vacation destination. Colorado leads in primary or secondary destination choice over Utah, Wyoming and Montana.
