Cheese, an excellent source of protein, calcium, and certain vitamins and minerals, comes in many forms. Depending on your intended use, you may be able to save money by purchasing a less expensive variety. For example, sharp cheddar costs more than mild chedder because it is aged for a longer period of lime to develop the flavor. Processed cheese costs still less than regular cheese and may be preferable for use in cooking because it melts more easily. Cheese food costs still less and cheese spread is least expensive of all, but the savings comes from greater moisture content and less cheese flavor. It takes a minimum effort to cut, slice, or shred your own cheese, and you will save money, too. Something different for Thanksgiving dinner will be stuffing your celery with hard boiled eggs, mashed, salad dressing added with grated cheese mixed in. Sprinkle with paprika. To get the most egg for your money, look at the difference in price per dozen of small, medium, large and extra large eggs.
