Guy Thayne was the owner and rider of the quarter horse that took first in junior reining. The quarterhorse senior Western Pleasure championship went to owner and rider, Tom Casey. Winner in the timed barrels was Suzanne Fausett, owner and rider of a quarterhorse. Dor-ran- Wool growers to hold Sheep Day The first Utah State University Sheep Day will be held Sept. 1961. in Cedar City. The Sheep Day is sponsored by the University in cooperation with the U.S. Sheep Experiment Station, Dubois, Idaho; the University of Nev ada, Reno; and the Utah Wool Growers, Salt Lake. The Sheep Day will be held on the Southern Utah State College campus and at the USU-SUSValley Farm three miles west of Cedar City. The Sheep Day has been planned and organized fay sheep producers, Utah State University and other cooperating institutions to assure a worthwhile program. The main objective of the program is to provide sheep producers with pertinent, practical information that can help them improve their produe-- ' tion. The phases of production and management will be emphasized durng tHe two-daprogram through ahort course presentations, workshops demonstrations, and tours of load sheep producers facilities. Two dozen sheep producers and university and USDA researchers will be involved in presenting information. Subjects to be presented include lambing management, aheep health programs, wool care, measuring herd productivity, accelerated lambing, lamb feeding, selection of sound replacement management of ranges, nutritional and economic considerations in developing sheep rations, and develop ment of practical, economical facilities. ' A proceedings will be published and available at the beginning of the Sheep Day. It will include information on approximately 20 subjects that will be presented during the Sheep Day plus about 12 additional selected topics of ' general and specific interest to the sheep producer. The cost of the proceedings and the Sheepherders Supper are both indud-e-d in the $10 registration fee.
