Show Basin Standard dJJintah Jennie Goodrich celebrates 93rd birthday with family Family members honored their mother and grandmother, Mrs. Jennie Elizabeth Case Goodrich on her 93rd birthday with a dinner at the home of Marilyn and Duane Young, Altonah. Mrs. Goodrich was barn in Jensen, Utah to Mary Ann Humble and Frederick Aaron Case Aug. 23, 1888. They came to Mt. Emmons and pioneered there. Mrs. Goodrich taught school in Bluebell She met Gardner L. Goodrich and they were manned in the Salt Lake Temple Oct 17, 1913. They are the parents of five children: Floyd Case Goodrich, Covina, Calif.: Garda Seeley, Bluebell; Dolores Monsen, Vernal; Jeanne Richman, Provo; and Marilyn Young, Altonah and Sandy. She has 23 grandchildren and 42 n. Her husband was Bishop in Bluebell for seven years. She cared for him for six and a half years as we was bedfast before he died Nov. 9, 1961. i Roosevelt native wins Young Designers award Temple wedding to unite Carlile, Atkin Sept. 4 For the second year in a row, a Brigham Young University design student has won a major award in the annual Young Designers Competition sponsored by W. Braun Company of New York City. Sherlyn Hicks, Roosevelt, a student of the Design Department under faculty member, Keith Eddington, received the Graphics Award for the best graphics in the prestigious student design show. W. Braun Company specializes in componetics, or tne creative use of stock glass or plastic containers to achieve a unique custom-designe- d product appearance. Sherlyn, a junior at BYU, majoring in design, created an a ftor-shabottle in the shape of a red, white and Mr. and Mrs. George A. Atkin, Provo, are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Karen to Kenneth Valden Carlile, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth S. "It's a challenging and realistic problem in packaging design for the students to work on," said Eddington. The 1981 Young Designers' Competition winners, featuring work by n students from such design institutions as the Illinois Institute of Technology, the Rochester Institute of Technology and the American Academy of Art, are currently traveling to schools and design centers across the country. Sept. 4, there will be an open house for them from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tabiona Chapel in Tabiona. Kenneth graduated from Tabiona high school where he was valedictorian. Then he served an LDS mission in Australia. He is now attending Utah Technical College in Provo, where he is majoring in electronics. Karen is a dental asaistant in Spanish Fork. After they are married, the couple will live in Provo. Karen Atkin and Kenneth Carlile will be married in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple Sept. 4. We had ham, potato and cheese casserole, relish tray, muffins, bread, razzle daU and grape fizz. While we were finihing up last touches, the mothers were looking at pictures from camp. Each girl had to say a talk of some kind. We said the prayer, we ate, then we went home. Aug. 20 we went to the Duchesne County Fair. All of our breads and muffins won first places and State Fair except one. We all looked around at things. After a while we went and ate at the park. We had lots of fun.
