Comm-tnisskme- rs The Ducheine American Legion' and Auxiliary will aponaor a Santa Claus Christmas party Dec. 22. Santa will arrive on a fire truck at 8 p.m. All area residents are invited to bring their children 10 years old and younger. Blood drive report Last week's Blood mobile drive brought results that were less than spectacular, according to Jean Smith, director of the LPN program at Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center. Sixty-thre- e people reported to the UBAVC,and 45 pints of blood were obtained - only about half the amount drawn in the previous drive. Mrs. Smith said that the practical nursing students who volunteered to help with' the drive were much appreciated, u were the UBAVC business students, who manned the typewriters and helped obtain information from the donors. Other volunteers who assisted with the drive were Helen Washburn, Carmella Sorrentino, Kay Harmston, Ora Marstella, Connie Martin, Lilia Manangan. The next drive is scheduled for April 8, 1980. Tracy Houston wins $250 scholaiship Tracy Houston, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Houston, Roosevelt, won second prise in the 8th Annual Beef Calf Contest which was sponsored by KSL Radio. Houston was presented the $250 tuition scholarship to Utah State University at the Utah Cattle Association banquet held Thursday, Dec. 13, in Salt Lake. The contest is open to Club and Future Farmers club members. Hous4-- H ton was the only participant through the local extension office, according to Joe Austin, Duchesne County Extension Agent The first prise was won by a Sdpio youth who had been trying for six years to win. He won a purebred registered Hereford, which was donated by Monroe Brothers, Scipio, and the Utah Hereford Association. . n' .. with Santa.
