Seven teams are needed for the league. Play is scheduled to begin Sept 11, with games Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, three per night Referees will be provided by the team with a bye, as was the case in the softball league. Entry fee is $30. Rosters are due with the entry fee, but players may be added or changed up until Sept 19. There will be no cancellations or postponements. Soccer play will begin Sept 15, for boys and girls ages 9 through 13.$ There will be a meeting of coaches, players and officials Tuesday, Sept 11, at 5:30 p.m. at Roosevelt City Park, near the big ball diamond. Team assignments will be made at that time, so all coaches and players need to attend. Entry fee for soccer is $5 per player. Jackson said that coaches and officials are needed. Games will be played and Saturday Tuesday evenings mornings. Jackson also said that some jerseys from last years soccer and basketball programs have never been turned in. Some are red Frontier Grill jerseys, and some are blue L&L jerseys. These belong to the City, and Jackson urges that anyone having one turn it in, so there will be enough for this year's soccer and basketball programs. Cook, Vernal; Tom Comment time on school sale of foods extended The public has 30 additional days to comment on a U.S. Department of Agriculture proposal to limit the sale of competitive' foods in schools. Competitive foods are those sold in competition with federally subsidized meals in the nation's schools. We extended the deadline from Sept 6 to Oct 6 to permit all interested parties to submit comments based on a thorough understanding of this complex issue, Assistant Secretary of Agriculture Carol Tucker Foreman said. The department developed the proposal in response to a 1977 amendment to the National School Lunch Act authorizing the Secretary of Agriculture to regulate the sale of foods that compete with school meals for students' appetites. The department withdrew an earlier proposal last December, because officials believed there were significant scientific issues that needed further study. Hunt No. 320 Elk Ashley-Dagge- tt Oct. Hunt No. 341 Elk Cache, middle pert area Oct. 6 MichaelR. Miles, Altamont The current proposal would limit the sale of any food that does not have at least 5 percent of the U.S. Recommended Daily Allowance for any one of eight specified nutrients. This provides a scientific standard to distinguish between foods, Foreman said. Under the proposed rule, carbonated beverages, water ices, chewing gum and some candies could not be sold until after the end of the last school lunch period each day. Foods containing 5 percent or more per serving (or per 100 calories) of any of eight nutrients-protei- n, vitamin A, ascorbic acid, niacin, riboflavin, thiabe sold at min, calcium and iron-coany time during the school day. Interested parties 'should "send comments on the proposal to Margaret O'K.
