Show $6 million for Utah J in lieu of taxes Utah's counties will receive for federal lands within their boundaries this month. According to Rep. Gunn McKay, Interior Department payments range in size from $595,446 for Box Elder County to $1,522 for Morgan County. Utah, with its 32 million acres of federal entitlement lands, will receive the eighth largest sum in the country. Of the sum, Duchesne County will receive $381,137 and Uintah County's share is $428,038. Rep. McKay said that this money is entirely discretionary with no federal or state strings attached. These funds are payments for services rendered by counties on tax exempt federal lands within their boundaries.
