The new law required the Department of Public Safety to establish a for assessing separate procedure Gov. points for speeding, depending on how far the drivers exceed the posted speed limits. It also prohibits public reporting of individual driver records offenses on certain speeding interstate highways. The new regulations will take effect next week, on July 26. Speeding offenses for exceeding the posted limit by up to nine miles per hour will be classified as minimum and 35 points will be assessed to the drivers record. Exceeding the speed limit by 10 to 19 miles per hour will be classified as for an "intermediate" speeding offense and 55 points will be assessed against the drivers record. Speeding offenses of 20 or more miles per hour will be classified as maximum and 75 points will be added to the driving record. In addition, reports on individual driver records will not contain convictions for speeding violations on an interstate system in Utah if the conviction was for leu than 71 miles per hour and did not result in an accident. The only exception to this change will be if the record request is authorized in writing by the individual whose report is being requested. 'Sj. STANDARD .
