Once again this game started slow as both teams got a feel for each other. In the second inning Lehi got their only score of the game when AJ Guase, the Lehi pitcher in the game, hit a home run. The team began the week by competing at the Emery tournament last Friday and Saturday. showing quite a strong The Dinos completed the tournament with three wins and two losses quite an accomplishment considering the team is quite young and 0. new. The Dinos three victorics-cam- with all-- 0 victory, over West High, a 12-- 1 finish over e North Sevier, and finally, the team defeated Union High I. According to coach Don Gressmcn, the team did quite well. We have some talented players and great hitters. We jack experience because of our 5-- age, but we will continue to improve, and by the end of the season, we will be great." After completing the two day tournament, the Dinos bounced back to travel to Lehi on Monday. Unfortunetly for the Dinos the road trip did not turn out as successful as the previous tournament, with Carbon lossing 13-The game started rough for the Dinos who were told that only two of the team bats would be allowed in the game. According to the umpire, the bats did not have the proper stamp for high school competition. The team was then limited to two bats hurting the Dinos chance at heavy hitting during the game. Coach Gressmen explained that after returning home the team bats were looked over and indeed are "certified bats" Whether this incident dampered the teams spirits or not is unknown, but the Dinos did have only a two hit game. After emerging from a week of softball action, Gressmen was quick to point out the players that contributed well to the team. "Michelle Ruden, Cassidy Wiscomh, and Brittany Pollastro all have done well hitting. Hailee Vigil has really stepped up and done a good job as catcher for the team. This is her first year as catcher, but she has really done well and is unafraid, explained Gressmen. The team will finish the week with a home game on Wednesday against North Sanpete. The team plans on using its own bats while playing on their home field. Hopefully, the homecoming will boost the Dinos confidence and assist Carbon to a victory before-friendand family. Eagles soar high above the Aggies By KAREN BASSO Sports writer The College of Eastern Utah baseball team has really been picking up the pace as of lately. The Eagles displayed their talent before a hometown crowd last weekend as the team hosted the Utah State University club team. The Eagles dominated the field by sweeping the Aggies 34). The weekend kicked off with the. Eagles defeating the Aggies 11-- The victory would lead to good things to come for the Eagles who stepped out onto the field Saturday filled with confidence and determination. i 2. The first of the double header games found the Eagles ahe&d early in the game. The momentum seemed to be in fa vor of the Eagles, ending in CEUs 13-- 3 victory. The Eagles took advantage of the struggling Aggie team to send USUhome without a victory. The Eagles defeated the Aggies 15-- 5 in the last game of the series. Eagles catcher Derek Waddoups had a tremendous series for CEU, with several big hits. Along with Waddoups, EricTumbcw and Gary Larson also had a good series at bat against the Aggies. The Eagles season started off rocky for the team, but as the year progresses, so does the Eagles. The team has overcome several obstacles and find themselves on a winning streak.
