Show San Juan County Commission brief by Anna Adair At the February 22 and 28 meetings of the San Juan County Commission, Commissioners: agreed to open a y period for public comment, with the option to extend it if needed, for proposed changes 60-da- to the countys zoning ordinances; agreed to support a Division of Natural Resources request to build a fuel break for fire suppression around the Blue Mountain Guest Ranch. The project will be funded through fire suppression funds that the county pays annually. The first phase of the project is estimated to cost $4,100; heard a request to convert a room at the County Library in Monticello to a childrens library room. The room has been used as the Monticello Museum, which will be moved to the barn on Main Street. The commission tabled the issue for one week for discussion; heard that the Bureau of Land Management collects up to $40,000 in revenue from permits issued for the Jeep Safari in Grand and San Juan counties. Questions were raised as to what the permit is for and if people are being charged to drive on public roads. The county will issue letters asking for clarification; approved a $150,000 property tax anticipation bond for the Health Care District; heard that the Health Care District is working on receiving a building from the Department' of Energy millsite project to be used for clinic space at the San Juan Hospital; will advertise for vacancies in various special sendee districts, including the La Sal, Eastland, Central Recreation, Substance AbuseMental Health, Historical Commission, and Blanding Cemetery districts; approved a subdivision amendment for the Bridgeijack Subdivision in order to move a road that was platted in the wrong place; heard a report that the BLM rental fees are due on the Bluff airport. The county has not paid the bill, waiting for a patent request to be considered by the BLM. The BLM will not procede with the patent request until the fees are paid.
