The wish to live, the will to do. Attempt a task and see it through. "THE FLIES" Well, now and then desires arise. To kill, to exterminate these flies! With sure intent you plan disaster. But the fly is wise, and quicker, faster. He dodges every blow you aim. Then circles 'round and lights again. He crawls across the sleeping pup. Then flies to the rim of your coffee cup; He's in the gravy, on the cheese; He buzzes your nose, and makes you sneeze. Another swat at him you aim. Then try to follow his flight in vain. Now little dogs were made to bark. And little birds to sing; But creep, crawl, fly, these dadgum flies, They're into, onto everything; The sink, the toilet bowl, the table. The shoes you wore out in the stable. There's hand towel, cat dish, floor and curtain, Destruction should be theirs, that's for certain. So, gods of love, look from above. And send us down some swatters; To swat these flies, goldam their eyes. And their fathers, mothers, sons and daughters. This is the time of year when lots of folks think nothing much is happening in education. WRONG! Summer classes ARE in session AND (more important) plans for the coming school year are being finalized right now. Got any ideas for courses or workshops? Want something special-- or routine? Better let us know easier to plan for fall, winter or spring now than when we get to them-- or do they come to us?
