Show PAGE 16 THE ZEPHYRSEPTEMBER 1990 His Don Swasey was born and raised In Ferron, Utah In Emery County. arrived here at the age of 15, and the Swasey family has been there ever since. Don attended CEU for two years and USU for two years where he received a degree In Commercial Art. He moved to Moab In 1970 and worked at the missile base, Atlas and Moab Lumber before taking over High Desert Gifts on August 26, 1975. Dons drawings have been generously contributed to such groups Travel as the Council, the Chamber of Commerce, the Rim Commission and the Convention Bureau. According to Don, "Its my way of helping out with the community." His scrimshaw engraving can be seen at his gift shop and his line now "are In most well stocked brochure racks In drawings showing great-grandfat- Moab." her |
